For those talking about the roster money going up next year, question is whether it's expected to go up more relative to the rest of the B1G/national contenders. I saw someone saying 1-2 B1G teams will be higher and....that feels close to the current dynamics?

Tomi has always had a very flat shot. I’m not surprised he’s hit this lull. Especially if his confidence is as down as people suggest. A flat shot with no confidence does not equal success. His rebounding effort has always fed off his offense imo
His rebounding suggests knee issues. He doesn’t go up with two hands because he is now relying on one of his arms to do what his legs are supposed to do - keep the opposing player from displacing you. He can’t hold his ground anymore with his lower half. Totally throwing off his shot in both lift and getting to a spot in the pick and pop.

my larger question relative to pure NIL here and not revenue sharing (I will assume all B1G programs are paying that out in a similar fashion to their sports) is

how do we ever really know what any school is paying? what incentive does any school have to be truthful?

We don't know. It's a black box. Anyone that says "we have a top-X player budget" or whatever it is, at best is just making an educated guess. In most cases it's just pure speculation. I'm sure there are something like 50 fanbases who think their teams are underperforming their top 10 or top 20 budget.

Feels like Vaaks would be a pivot if the staff doesn't land Coleman. I can't imagine they'd take both, but OTOH, they'll need to replace Boswell and Wagler. *shrug* Also, sounds like Vaaks will have a number of high-major suitors, so he'll cost a pretty penny.

I have an Inside Edition insider question?!!!

Is Tomi in heavy with a girl at Illinois?

Mirk gonna get serous raise.
Andrej, Tomi, Z, and Bam money can get us better toys next year I think.
I bet Petro's was a chunk also...

We don't! This is a great point that it's not an exact science. The coaching staffs will understand the offers flowing into the prospects they are competing over. That's why my question was about pecking order. I'm sure the coaching staff has an understanding of their chances if they are competing against Iowa or, say, Michigan over a prospect and their chances of landing that prospect.

He literally carries the ball on every dribble.

Interesting, just rewatched the whole vid and not sure I saw one carry... at least not egregious enough to be called... that's one they mostly let go anyway, just ask Nick Boyd, ha

I mean, they might. But both will cost a ton of money, as will retaining Mirk. I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

I don't see either of them costing "a ton of money"

One is a 4 star freshman and the other is unlikely to even be in the top 10-20 xfers

Vaaks will be Andrej type price …

Coleman is gonna push 7 figures … Or exceed it …

That’s serious coin … At least in my book …

7 figures was child's play last year when you have Josh Dix getting twice that

Pass on Vaaks then, unless $2.5M is the new $1.5M

(all of the pricing from last year is going to be obsolete with revenue sharing this year so everyone's just guessing, but that's my take)

For an incoming freshman that’s not like a top 15 kid … 7 figures is a lot … IMO …

As far as Josh Dix … I cannot imagine what that kid has been dealing with on a daily basis … Got major respect for him even trying to tough it out and play …

$2 million is the new $1 million … But agents also think their guys are worth double what they are …

The tournament hasn't even started. I'll wait until the end of the portal to make a true determination.

But, if Vaaks + Coleman is something we can't afford... Just saying. Questions gotta be asked.

If we think prices double this upcoming season, and we also think Coleman can crack the rotation, I'd pay him $1M (again, if that's $500k in this year dollars)

If prices double and our NIL bucket does not, then we'll be hurting to fill out the roster of course
