Strange appeal in UVA Wr St game. Travelling first, then appealed. Called flagrant 1. But to me, the UVA lowered his shoulder throwing the defender off balance, so should not have been upgraded.

Even if an offensive player initiates contact with an airborne defensive player, the defensive player doesn't have the right to swing down on his head (just the right to brace his own fall). I only got a quick look before switching over to another game, but I could see the argument that he did swing down. It's a tough situation for the defensive player though, since your reflex is to bring your arms down as quickly as possible.

Virginia is probably the weakest 3 seed ever. They have only beat 1 ranked team all year and it was Louisville, who was 20th at the time. They should have been a 5 seed at best.
That's where efficiency metrics get interesting. If you look at those, they're better than a number of recent 3 seeds, but I agree with you - they seem 1-2 seed lines over-seeded this year. Their best wins are over 6 through 11 seeds (Louisville, Miami (FL), Ohio State, Texas, NC St., SMU)

Yeah I get that, but the path to get there was not an average one.

1) Hall travelled
2) Then when defender was in the air shoved his shoulder into him
3) Then the defender came down on his head

Just not your average F1.

Almost every year one 2seed loses before the S16.

Between UCLA-UCONN, KY-ISU, TAMU-HOU, MIZ-PU … which is most likely to result in an upset? I think ISU is the weakest 2.
As of yesterday morning, UConn was the least likely to reach the S16 at FanDuel:

They were definitely the weakest 2-seed according to efficiency rankings (as well as from estimating true team strength from betting odds by removing the differences in difficulty of draw) and UCLA likely the strongest 7

Yeah, definitely not average. I suppose if the travel clearly happened first, then anything after that is dead-ball, so it really should either be a tech or no-call, right? Again, I didn't get a good look at the whole situation, so I should probably stop talking about it :ROFLMAO:

If we shot 3s like they do — this board would be completely engulfed in fumes.

I know you're making a comment about how our board flips out at 3s, but Alabama has a very good offense (#3 in AdjO, though there's a gap between them and us/Purdue)

The biggest irony is that they're even worse at the thing that is our biggest weakness: defense, specifically against Q1A (we're #100, they're #124):
