Nice movement of goal posts. My original post said 13-16 seeds. That’s not High Point. I’m not saying there will never be an upset in the NCAAT again. But I think there will be many more years when 1-4 seeds don’t lose in first round. And I think that takes something away from the tournament. Just my opinion.
To Juiceman’s point, though, the reason why High Point was a 12 seed and not a lower seed or missing the tournament altogether is the transfer portal. In 2022, High Point was 242 in KenPom and went 14-18. This year, they earned a 12 seed and knocked off a B1G team in the first round in large part due to high major players transferring in.

From what I can find, it seems to be based around his ability to play bigger than his size and his ability to guard 4s and 5s. He is offensively limited but can still make spot 3s and simple plays around the basket. If he's picked in the 1st round, it will be more of a back end pick by a team that makes the playoffs. NBA teams are starting to use more double big line-ups so he'll have a usefulness in the NBA and provide depth for whatever team picks him.
I think it is more that he can switch onto perimeter players and not get completely burned. The NBA switches almost every on-ball screen it seems like.

anyone know how that guy did that mind trick during halftime show?
Barkley actually gave away the secret. It's all preshow work that we don't see. He forces cards of players onto each of the people on the panel and then tells them to pick any person, but they are a little confused so they pick the player of the card that is forced on them during the preshow work. No one wants to look dumb or wrong on live TV so they revert to what they remember. Charlie saying "I hated before the show the deck of cards and I picked Boozer."

He's a great showman but he's working with the NFL and NCAA to provide fun content. It's not magic. It's not "mentalism" It is very entertaining
Is this that guy named Oz?

Instead of the Francon scale, we need the Izzo-whine scale. He's getting worked up. (Although MSU have had a couple of questionable calls the last few minutes)
We only make fun of people we like. How about some Izzo themed urinal screens instead?

Sure the portal is a two-way street, but NIL has made it a bike path on one side and a super highway on the other. So, yes, High Point has transfers. Three of their top four scorers transferred in at some point but from the likes of Lamar, Liberty and SEMO. That was after losing their top scorer to Ole Miss and third leading scorer to UNLV — and the second and fourth leading to graduation.

Labeling High Point’s success as being “in large part due to high major players transferring in” might be a stretch unless SEMO and Lamar are now considered high major schools. Fletcher certainly was important, but he wasn’t the star of the team. And we’re talking about a guy who played only 18 games across the two previous seasons at the high major level. The kid from AZ was a rotation piece, but far from a star. And again, we are talking about a player who took a total of 34 shots over two seasons at Arizona. So yes they both played at high majors, but I doubt the fans of Xavier or Arizona were wringing their hands over the losses.

I wish I didn’t have as much respect for Matt Painter as I do
Painter is a great coach . Purdue got so lucky with him.

when all is said & done , Keady Court will become Painter Place
