I've been a fan of his from the moment he got there. He'll bounce back.

I'd have thought that was a perfect landing place for Oats (his blazer collection in Carolina colors would be elite), but something about Byington and UNC does kinda feel like a fit, he's got that good old boy vibe about him.

Oats is Izzo's replacement. Calling it now

I’ve said this before, but if I were sitting in Josh Whitman’s chair Byington would be on my personal list of who I would call if I had to make a coaching change tomorrow. I think he has every chance to be a big time winner at a big program.

Knowing Josh … I can confirm Byington is on the list if he needed to make a change …

I agree, especially after Calipari made it back to the sweet 16
Both seasons since he left....

I will miss UK and UNC being relatively dormant with their underwhelming 'in the family' hires. If either grabs an Oats/Golden/Byington look out...

I know that Self said he's coming back but he's had all sorts of health related issues the last 5 years. He's also not going to say publicly that he's not coming back due to recruiting and lots of other issues.

If the Kansas job opens, do we need to be worried about Underwood going there? I know this has been talked about before but I feel like we're 20 minutes away from this becoming an actual issue...

Can anyone share any insights?

At 62 with 1 E8 run and not particularly known as being great at anything; wouldn’t see it.

He’s a good coach - but that’s a top 2-3 job.

I think over are the days of worrying about Underwood leaving for another school. I think he's settled in nicely here and I think he wants this to be his final head coaching stop. I don't see KU or Kentucky or UNC or any blue blood going after him.

I'll let others address Underwood's contract language, but aside from that he's just shy of 1 year younger than Self. Obviously health matters, but it's highly unlikely Kansas would be interested.

Could we really see Kansas, UK, AND UNC open up in the same off-season? What a ride this could be

One of those should lure Dusty May away.
