I just don't see Dusty being in it for the long haul at Michigan. Wouldn't surprise me if he's out of Michigan before his 5th year there. Oats and Golden are hilarious because they can coach their asses off but they are also utter psychopaths. Lol. Baggage is there with both coaches. It wasn't that long ago that Oats were seen as the number one hot commodity by many, but recent seasons of his players having off the court issues have put a dent on the Oats train.

Are you talking about a program like BC just saying “heck with it” and settling for being an ACC bottom dweller, or seeing a program like that moving to a conference like the American? Because I could see either scenario happening.
Not sure what "settling" looks like.

A cynic would say just collect that sweet TV money and don't bother trying to compete, but you can't exactly induce a bunch of 19 year olds to make the kinds of sacrifices to their time (and in the case of football health) that are necessary to even show up at the games.

I do mean dropping down, though I would think in a case like BC it would probably be more like the Patriot League and just getting rid of the expense and nightmare of FBS football altogether.

But FBS keeps getting bigger rather than smaller, which never ceases to shock me.

Given that a rich dude just donated $50 million to their athletic department tells me that won't happen anytime soon.

I can't see Collins going anywhere up after their last few seasons. He has had 3 NCAA's in ~12 years, two of which immediately post COVID. That was the time to move if he was going to move. Their typical BT season is with 1/3 of the games and finish ~10th (or 12-15th post latest expansion). NW is a hard job. I think it was his dead-end. I expect him to retire there.

USF is a WAYYYYYY better job than Akron …

The American is a lot easier to win than the MAC … And he’s dominated the MAC … He will have great success at USF if he is indeed their guy …
Can you please explain to us uneducated masses who are outside the loop why is it a way better job? You listed easier wins; some people prefer the challenge. Other than cost (and possibly your preference in weather), I can see Tampa being a nicer place to live. What else?

I put it on here about a month ago and I can say with confidence that Scheyer is very much interested in the Bulls …

He has seen the path Brad Stevens has taken and likes that …
Then Bulls is the last NBA team he wants to coach...

LOT of chatter out there that this could happen for UNC …

Ncaa Basketball Thumbs Up GIF by NCAA March Madness

Others in the mix: May, Lloyd

Tier 3 … Otz, Byington …

May could use it to get more out of Michigan … He’s certainly actively flirting with CBB and NBA jobs …

Lloyd isn’t making it a secret he expects more from Arizona and they need to deliver or he’s open to other opportunities …

Otz is a unique fit at Carolina … I don’t see it … But I’ve been told they like him …

Bynington … It could get this far but I doubt it …

Oats & Golden are NOT being considered by UNC …
If Donovan gonna take North Carolina will it be quickly or gonna have to wait a couple of weeks?

The one thing that’s complicating a lot of this is Donovan wanting to finish out the NBA season …
I figured the Bulls could just let their assistant coach finish out the season if Donovan was serious about coming back to the college game. Jmo

It's easy forget that BC was a regular in the NCAA tournament in the early 00s(I think they made 7 tournament appearances between 2000-2010. Then they fire Al Skinner after a mediocre season and that was probably the worst decision they ever made b/c every coach they have hired since then has been utter garbage. This is a school that produced Troy Bell, Jared Dudley, Reggie Jackson, and Craig Smith for the NBA. They just need to find the right guy who can do more with less when it comes to NIL. But, they also need a commitment to invest more in the basketball program kinda like what we're seeing with DePaul now

Why not? They have Larry Ellison's money. Not only can he get paid any number he can name, but he can offer that same number to assistants and players.

You'd be a fool to leave a program that can use the Big Ten as a farm league because of the absurd dollars they can pay.

Vibe I get is he ain’t leaving unless it’s a HC position that sets him up for immediate success … Like an Elite mid major …
As an EIU alum, I think Eastern would be a great fit for Tyler depending on what happens with Marty Simmons. While it's far from It's close to UIUC, the expections are low which gives him time to improve and learn how to be a HC, and it's honestly one of the safest jobs in the country. If he has even a little bit of success at EIU he'll be highly respected in the community. I think Eastern needs a young and hungry coach who's ready to prove themselves.

Possible overstating a bit, but he did have Butler in back-to-back championship games--Butler. How easy is it for any program to do that, let alone a mid-major, which is what they were in those two years.
It was an amazing achievement, no doubt. But Stevens took over a very strong Butler program already known as a Cinderella, that was his 3rd and 4th year, a lot of luck involved in the tourney as we all know, and of course he did not in fact win a national championship.

What Cignetti did is impossible. His comps aren't coaches, it's Houdini, David Copperfield, Penn and Teller

I disagree. What he did was take years of developing a system under the tutelage of great coaches, implementing it at a lower level (JMU) and then having the exquisite timing of entering power-conference coaching at a time when he could take a raft of his own, best, P-5 quality players with him, juice the lineup from the portal using abundant resources, and implement that system immediately.

He's a very intelligent, creative coach. And a helluva salesman. He did what he did using a great system, intelligent assistants, stellar players and a Heisman QB.

Impressive and revolutionary, yes. Magical? No, IMO. Using a finance analogy, he uncovered underpriced securities in what was an inefficient market and used a low-transaction-cost strategy to earn above-market returns without using the mirage of leverage. Can he continue to earn such returns? Only if the market becomes more efficient. Football coaches, because they're hidebound, often seem to leave visible 20-dollar-bills lying in the gutter. So, perhaps he can.

@Indy Illini Fan doesn't work for SI: confirmed🤣

Lol - clearly not … I had the Wade to LSU news on the 11th …

It’s always funny how people say “oh things changed so quickly there” … And there are times that is truly the case …

However - The Wade to LSU deal was in the works/finalized before NC State even played their last game …
