At this point, there does seem to be a clear separation:

I was hoping for UConn-St John’s for a rare 4th time in a season but credit to Duke for pulling it out.

I hope UConn beats Duke. I know Illinois lost earlier to UConn but I still think they are an easier team than Duke. UConn is only #10 on Kenpom.

Ages of the Elite 8 coaches:

Barnes- 71
Underwood- 61
Painter- 55
Hurley- 53
Lloyd- 51
May- 49
McCollum- 44
Scheyer- 38

I love that nearly all of the potential matchups if we get past Iowa have some sort of redemption tour flare.
If you squint a bit, every game so far has some form of "cleansing the evil spirits." As do any potential future matchups.
Round 1 - Penn - Fran was at Iowa; anything associated with Iowa is bad voodoo mama joojoo
Round 2 - VCU - I still associate VCU w/ Shaka and the meltdown our beaten down fanbase was having at the time when good candidates kept spurning us.
Round 3 - Samscum/IU IDKWTI days and then Houston beating us a few years ago while Melendez got T'd up for dunking.
Round 4 - Again, BEATING IOWA AT ANYTHING AT ANY TIME IS CLEANSING FOR THE SOUL
Round 5 - UConn/Duke - UConn has owned us the past few years/ 30-0 run. Duke whooped us last year. Not to mention Scheyer leaving the state for Puke, and I will never forget Vitale brown-nosing his Dukies so hard when they played us in 2004 while Chris Duhon had a boo-boo on his tummy. "HE CANT EVEN BREATHE OUT THERE! WHAT A WARRIOR BABY!"
Round 6 - PURDUE - See Iowa. MICHIGAN - See Iowa. Not to mention Morez amongst all the other scUMmy things about them. ARIZONA - 4-0 against us since 05. Won't forget Lute Olsen crying about Archibald/Johnson playing too rough out there. Would be sweet to repeat '05.
TENN- Not as much history, but they are 4-2 against us, and Barnes also beat us in 2010 while he was at Texas. Would be fun to beat them in both football and basketball this year. But the biggest cleanse we would get from this is something I almost forgot about. Like Iowa, Satan himself spent plenty of time there. Beating anybody, anywhere that is associated with Bruce Pearl is truly good for the soul.

IF , we get a Hoops Natty , it will go A LONG way towards easing the sting from IU winning the football natty .

Seeing Duke against St John’s…

they don’t have anybody who can reliably make a shot from the perimeter OUTSIDE OF Evans. Almost everything they got was at the rim. St John’s has small big guys.

Not sure they’ll be able to push around Reid and Reibe, quite to that extent.

he was pretty young by standards then when Keady retired . it was just a couple years after Bruce started for us . without looking it up, i’m guessing it’s been 18-19 years

Painter started at Purdue in 2005. One year after we got Weber.

So awesome that we get into the Final Four, now get to enjoy the remaining Elite Eight games stress-free.

First and only time I'll ever say this: I hope Fletcher Loyer goes off and is 10/14 from three tonight, LOL, plus sells a few of his trademark flops. However, I expect the opposite to happen...

Bradley being B12 player of year is the worst player of the year allocation I’ve ever seen.

He’s not even their best player; Burries is. You could make the argument for Peat over Bradley as well.
