"Groce spent five seasons at Illinois, guiding the Illini to an NCAA Tournament appearance in his first year." Yikes. The author might have wanted to leave out that last independent clause to make this sentence sound a bit better.
remove tourney appearance and add "including a buzzer-beater against #1 Indiana". That game and the Maui Invitational that season are the only favorable parts of the Groce regime.

With that said, he is still very likeable and I wish him the best of luck and success moving forward.

Living in Charleston, I'm pretty excited about Groce coming here. He was a bit over his head at Illinois, but has done very well at Akron. He is personable and a good human being, which immediately puts him ahead of Mack. He has a very good chance to be successful at CofC.

As an aside, you have to wonder what his tenure here would have been like if he had closed the deal with either Demetrius Jackson or Jawun Evans.

Saw that Jacobson of Northern Iowa had a local press conference today before leaving for Utah St. Don’t see that everyday. I know he’s been there a long time and accomplished some good things, but not sure I’ve seen that from a coach resigning to take another job. Good for him.

John Groce to Charleston.. seems like a strange lateral move to me.. maybe wants to be on the beach? Who knows. Best of luck to him.
First of all, have you ever been to Akron? LOL! Secondly, from what I read, Charleston has bigger NIL resources and doesn't have to compete with football. I think Groce took Akron about as far as you can. I'm guessing he learned that fit is really important with the IL move.

UNC and Lloyd working on terms … I think that one gets done unless AZ significantly steps up and fixes the issues Lloyd currently has with the situation …
How common is this that a coach (presumably his agent) would be working out the terms of a deal with another team while preparing to coach one or two games on the biggest stage? Seems like that would be a MAJOR distraction, especially if word were to leak out.

Obviously want Illini to win the national championship, but it would look very strange if Arizona won the title and then proceeded to lose their head coach.

Makes me happy with coaching situation (and Athletic Department) that we have in Champaign.
