UConn also got a game score of 96 for its win over Duke, while Duke got 97. I know Torvik has some adjustments based on average lead/deficit to handle situations where the final score doesn't represent a large blowout, but if that's what's happening here, that seems like a mistake. If the game gets close at the end, should the team that blew the lead get a bonus, while the team that came back get a penalty?

As I have been saying, we need Kylan to play well. Be aggressive. He wasn’t even really looking at the basket in Houston.

Can’t let Connecticut feel like they don’t have to pay any attention to him. You’re a senior. Go down being aggressive and getting after it.

Having watched nearly every game of the '89, '05, and '26 Illini seasons, I must admit that in '89 and '05 there was no question in my mind that the Fighting Illini were the best team in the nation. I would bet on them to win 7 or more games out of 10 against any other team if all things had been equal. Unfortunately, they finally lost to a very talented Michigan team in '89, a team they had beaten 3 times previously that season. In '05, the officiating crew decided to put Augustine on the bench making it a 5 on 4 contest the Illini could it win....in spite of a valiant effort..

This season is quite different though. I am convinced that Arizona and Cheatigan have proven to be a cut above the rest.....and UConn has a rather comfortable win over our guys that you would think proves nothing other than they should be favored.

And yet........

The Fighting Illini have finally become healthy, playing strong on both ends, and gaining confidence every day. They have the offensive weapons to score with any team for 40 min. and have improved their team defense to the point of impressing a lot of Knowledgable observers. Their height exceeds all the others and their depth is only matched by Arizona.

So why can't the Illini be the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Champions?

The bottom line is that they certainly can...but it will not be easy....for anyone.

their bad game will be on Saturday! it's time for the Illini to get revenge!

I have a feeling this will be like the second Nebraska game. we will be much better prepared for their cutting and false actions. we actually have a defined offensive scheme with defined roles. our length will be used to actually hinder shots and most importantly we rebound this game!

They are not playing a whole game well in tournament. But they have a dominant AJ Reed and some black magic

Karaban and co are due for a good 3pt shooting day, and I think they'll have it cause that's just what Uconn does in these game, but so are we. Let's keep it close for 20 minutes then bring out this elite second half team.

Using a larger sample size, from March 1st on (for us, this began right after the Michigan loss and before the Oregon win. Also includes the 6 point win @Maryland and the loss to Wisconsin in the BTT):

Illinois: 4
UConn: 21

Thats awesome, easy to like these young men. Getting Jake a wife to Keaton swiping poster of himself on walls. Great.
Now Im terrified and belive we are getting whooped! UCONN had been here repeatedly 3 out of last 4 years. We are big eyed and will come out shooting bricks in stadium. Man I hope Im wrong about the experience factor for Uconn! Hope we calm down amd Focus!
