It’s all been a bit surreal this week. And while I know we are the betting favorite, I can’t help but feel like the team, fanbase, and program on the whole are playing with house money.

Always feel that in a game of this magnitude you have to expect the unexpected to a degree.

I’ll go out on a limb and say that Ben knocks down 5 triples, we race out to a 13 point lead only to see UConn race all the way back in the 2H. But, the Illini hold on in the final seconds in dramatic fashion.

Well, here it is! The Illini finally taking the court in the Final Four in front of the Nation and the World. As it should be.

For Illini and roundball fans... this day is like Christmas and New Year and Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July all rolled into one.

And like those holidays... we give Thanks that the Illini are in this blessed position. And the Fourth of July because we hope for lots of Orange-tinged fireworks and frequent exhalations of awe and delight from all those gathered and watching the explosive colorful roundball procession. And like Christmas so that we get one final game closer to opening that Great Big Present that’s been patiently waiting under the Big Tournament Tree all these many years. And we are all the little kids watching the clock until it hit’s midnight so we can start tearing all that wrapping off.

But that’s for the game AFTER this one. Let’s get this talented and pesky and already-well-rewarded opponent out of the way today so we can concentrate on The Game ahead that we really want and have been waiting for.

And win or lose you guys in Orange & Blue... thanks for one hell-of-a ride this Season. The most fun Season in twenty years.

I’ll take a victory anyway we can get it

but oh , how about one like the victory over #1 ranked Wake Forest back in the day . The one where the rims we were shooting into seemed to be 6ft wide

We are hamming it up, it seems like we are very loose. Especially Tomi and Mirk. Maybe they feel like the pressure is on UConn. But when the game starts, we need to come out and take the game to UConn. Intense D and good looks on offense and we will find ourselves playing Monday. Let’s Goooooooo!!!!
