I heard about him on some podcast. Apparently he is kind of a different guy. Doesn’t really enjoy the spotlight or high expectations. Grew up in a military family. Very regimented and not one for much nonsense. Just passing along what I heard.
not funny GIF

I had never heard of her until like two days ago and have done zero research beyond reading the posts here, and yet I guarantee I could write 5000 words exactly reciting what the Arizona people's complaints are. Certain things never change.
It's so wildly inside baseball and mainly fodder for the message board crew.

I'd be willing to bet if we polled attendees at a football game, ~20% of them would get Whitman right...and he's a successful alumnus working at his alma mater.

I think it was Illini Inquirer that had that. It was the National round table conversation they had earlier this week

Why would you leave places when you can easily get to the ultimate destination where you are at? Not saying he wouldn’t go, but I’m not sure he would get the same roster financial guarantee at UNC. Dont mess with happy.

Could ask Roy Williams this question...

Technically, so is she. Got her law degree at Arizona. But otherwise I agree.

Well it won’t be Dusty May that’s for sure. Sort of puts a perspective on what it would or will take to replace Brad? We are not UNC and they don’t even get their first choice any more?

The coaching carousel continues to be in motion. With the end of our season, are we expecting any staff changes this off-season? Hopefully we keep OA and Geoff. Does Kevin Kruger stay on? What about other coaches and staff?

What's most interesting about this NIL era is it's kind of stabilized the coaching carousel for programs that aren't exactly blue bloods but willing to invest in their programs. Coaches are utilizing openings to not only gain better contracts for themselves but to enhance the facilities and payroll for the squad. This level of stabilization has been a more attractive option for coaches than just these incremental advancements in job prestige.

The mutually assured destruction of "if there is a coaching change, literally every single player from both schools enter the portal" has changed the carousel dramatically.

For those wanting a two minute overview of Desireé Reed-Francois:

- Was hired as a young AD at UNLV in 2017 and helped transform them from sleeping giant to really effective G5 program by being an excellent fundraiser
- She hired TJ Otzenberger at UNLV (major success) and Marcus Arroyo (small success)
- Really good run at UNLV
- She leaves UNLV for Mizzou (2021)
- She fires Cuonzo to hire Gates (success? TBD)
- Mizzou was in financial shambles when she took over and she helped dig them out
- Lots of rumblings there that internal decision makers and AD staff did not like her
- Signs an extension, but leaves four months after signing it to go to her alma mater (2024)
- Jedd Fisch leaves for Washington, she hires Brent Brennan (early returns are good)
- More rumblings at Arizona that internal stakeholders do not like her

She's probably one of the better fundraisers / budget ADs in the country, which has probably rubbed some athletic department folks the wrong way that are used to getting whatever resources they want. I've also heard enough substance from folks I trust that she's very much not a "people person", especially with employees. Also, it's a borderline miracle that she's worked at non-blue blood football programs but hasn't fired a football coach in almost 10 years as an AD.

But if THEY pursue HIM…. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Yep, wiggle room. As a young man I didn't realize that a person who said, "In my position I'm not allowed to make a recommendation" was wanting my reply to be, "If you could make a recommendation, what would it be?" It changed the world for me.

May has told Michigan officials he will not be pursuing other jobs.
I always believe Michigan coaches! We did not cheat, we did not tamper, we did not pay players, and now "we did not pay the officials"
