One other thing Keaton might be factoring in is the number of games played in college vs nba. Yes, I get all the money arguments....but hear me out.

In college, Keaton could play half as many games in a shorter season and for someone as young as him the extra year of physical development without the constant wear and tear of an nba season might actually be beneficial to him. He gets a year to beef up, improve his shooting, makes a huge bag anyway, and gets to be BMOC on a national level.

I mean heck, if the Boozer brothers can get paid by State Farm, why couldn't Keaton cash in on a big endorsement deal while still playing in college?

I still think he goes pro, but there are at least some legit angles for leaving the door open a crack. JMO.
If you're projected to go outside the top 20 that has merit. There's an angle there. The conversation can be had because if for whatever reason, you slip into the second round...you're screwed. Those contracts aren't guaranteed.

If you're a potential lottery pick, the pay on a one year basis might be comparable. That said, those aren't one year contracts. Those are 4 year guaranteed deals with a mid 8 figure salary. PLUS you're one year closer to the second contract which is the mother load. You are one slip and fall from watching millions go down the toilet if you go back to school.

We might make a token offer because we're doing the right thing and are giving him a well deserved option, but all things being equal.....Brad wants what's best for his guys and he would heavily push him towards leaving. Any other stance would be selfish and noticed by other recruits.

This is good news. Indicates the clear priorities. Here's to hoping it comes to fruition.

Go Illini
what are we discussing? 1-1.5 mil. set aside for andre? i think we could do that and
proceed with the other guys. Sandefort, Blackwell, Tommy, Z and mirk. maybe set aside
mirk's $ while he tests the NBA waters? (its him or Tommy right?) we make all those
other signings, Andre may see his minutes cut and go somewhere else, just not the
big ten.

Man, would Keaton coming back be the biggest CBB news story this decade?

Overnight he's:
NPOY top 3
B1G POY favorite
1st Team AA favorite

Projected #1 pick in '27 NBA Draft

And to add to the NIL bag he gets to stay, a savvy manager has him doing commercials like Boozer and his brother.

Not a stretch to think he could pull in $6-10M combined if he came back.

Shock the world Wagler! 🧡

Tyran Stokes would be the projected top pick.

With us playing at State Farm Center, I've always wondered why State Farm wouldnt try to feature an Illini in their commercials. Keaton coming back would make that a real possibility. Hell, he can even buy car insurance from Jake Davis.
I’d open it up a little more than just State Farm…

He could be one of the top faces in all of college basketball if he returned.

Could make an absolute boatload in actual endorsements, shoe deal, merchandise, maybe the face of 2K ‘27?

How many returners in CBB have his notoriety after the F4 run? Just dreaming, BUT he is as prime for real Name Image and Likeness deals as anyone is.

Article with good news

More than $10MM for our FF run.
Though we brought in more than $10 million due to the men's FF and women's R32 results, I believe that money all goes into the Big Ten pot, which is divided evenly, subject to any limits that still apply to newer members. So we, along with everyone else in the league, should get approximately $3.85 million.

No way Keaton comes back, you don’t turn down top 5 pick in the NBA.

Michigan won the championship because of morez, Yaxel and Aday Mara. Going to be very hard to replace them.

Sandfort isn’t leaving Nebraska, sorry.

There is a lot of money, but...still haven't given up on retaining Wagler. And they obviously want to bring back Tomi, Z, and Mirk and add more from the portal.

I don't think Stojakvic's NBA feedback will be all that great, so we shall see.
As much as I want this for next year, I cannot imagine the pit in our collective stomachs if a serious injury would happen to KW and he lose out on a 1st round slot. Not to mention if there is any pressure put on him to stay (which I don't think pressure is the right word for what is happening but let's say that there is a little) and then something happens, what does the narrative then look like to our other potential draftees in the future? That we pushed for a lottery pick to come back to school?
