I won't lie to anyone including myself...he is baaaaaaaaaaad on the defensive end and I can't overlook it. They'll need to work with him off the jump on that end. Im not saying it cant happen, but he cannot guard like he did at Providence here.
I’m curious how you’re evaluating his defense? Are you literally going back and watching full Providence games?

Obviously you can’t draw defense-related conclusions from highlights. And, there haven’t been as strong expert opinions that would lead to such a vehement conclusion.

It would be nice to get an announcement but no news is also kind of good news on that front.

With Vaaks on board now, if they can retain Mirk, Stojakovic, Tomi, and Z and potentially add Blackwell you're looking at a team that could be the preseason #1 and definitely the best offense in the country.
How does anyone guard that team? Literally.

If we retain the way we want, get Vaaks and Blackwell. Where’s the rollercoaster of an offseason that I love and am used to? Fired up, but would also be a little disappointed to have it gone so fast.
I know. It's a first world problem. Pour yourself a drink and that should take off the May-June edge.

Sadly I watched more Providence than I care to admit. He is indeed bad, in full games or highlights. I think with an increase in his engagement level, more talent around him and a scheme that allows him to play more conservatively he can be just ok which should be enough.

But defense is not going to be the calling card for Vaaks.

I'll say this...

Vaaks is...electric offensively. I am NOT making the 1 v 1 comparison on a talent level, but in a play style level...he plays LIKE Luka Doncic. Passes with both hands, bullets to teammates, plays with flair and creativity.
