maybe because he was a SG that doesn't have a good outside shot!!!Agreed - mostly though I was wondering why the staff did not think he fit in terms of getting more playing time. One thing that I'm wondering about is whether he's actually 6'4. He seems shorter than that
Didn't know that. He didn't play much, and that's why I stated that I was wondering what the staff had seen. We're not privy to practicemaybe because he was a SG that doesn't have a good outside shot!!!
agree didn't see enough of him to see his strengths but when Boswell and Andrej were out - the staff didn't give him many (any) minutes which likely indicated his future with Illinois was limited unless he was willing to ride the bench during games and improve during practice.Didn't know that. Yah, that game made it really clear that he was not in the plans. If I recall correctly, Keaton was the only guard who played in that game.agree didn't see enough of him to see his strengths but when Boswell and Andrej were out - the staff didn't give him many (any) minutes which likely indicated his future with Illinois was limited unless he was willing to ride the bench during games and improve during practice
Yep - I believe Illinois played 6 guys that game. Mirk handling the ball to give Keaton a short rest.Yah, that game made it really clear that he was not in the plans. If I recall correctly, Keaton was the only guard who played in that game.
1987 by Sports Illustrated, USA Today, and Parade Magazine.Wasn’t Marcus Liberty number one at some point?
Yes and I think "Benji" Wilson would have ended up committing to Illinois with his "squad" from Simeon Nick Anderson...I know Indiana was in the mix and Mark Aquirre's school....RIP Ben Wilson...gone but never forgotten !Often quoted but quite misleading. He was rated #1 by one publication (Streeet & Smith) after his Junior year of H.S. By the time he finished his SR year of H.S., he had dropped quite a bit (to around the teens which is still very high). In the state of IL alone, Ed Horton was ranked ahead of him (Ben Wilson would have been had he not been murdered).
Liberty OTOH was rated #1 by a few publications when his finished H.S.
What matters to the school getting you is your ranking when you finish play H.S. If you want to cherry pick rankings, Rich McBride was ranked #2 after his FR year of H.S. by one publication (Lebron was #1).
Get ready to learn....wait
pretty sure that's Duke as well.... also think they have 25 scholarshipsI think Louisville thinks there are two basketballs
Glad we’re being a bit more discretionary and responsible fiduciaries of donor $$$ via our version of Moneyball.pretty sure that's Duke as well.... also think they have 25 scholarships
Which one's Pink?My wife and I were watching a clip of Led Zeppelin and my wife ask “Which one is Led”
I think we’re good on wings with Dre, Jake, and Morillo. We’re also good on 3 ball shooters with Vaaks, Coleman, Jake, Mirk, and Tomi. I expect Z and Dre to hit some open ones too. So we’ve plugged the Ben absence sufficiently.I see the Serbian Danilo Donic has yet to commit anywhere. I wonder if we are stillin on him.or someone else for the Ben role?

Danillo is a 6'10 plus 4 man. He needs more muscle but he isnt a wing. If its just rebounding we need if Jaktys can play he can rebound and has length too. Going into his 3rd season as still a redshirt/ med reshirt guy on the cheap he can still do those things a few minutes if thats what we need. I want more if we can get it. It will be interesting to see what happens. I wonder if we dont have Danillo on hold right now or if he is waiting on a committable offer from us.I think we’re good on wings with Dre, Jake, and Morillo. What we are missing is a backup 4.
Morillo is not a great shooter so difficult to play him alongside Dre. That means he can’t backup Mirk. He probably also lacks the build to be guarding the Koa Peats and Morezs of the world.
We could use an athletic, physical, and defense-oriented PF to backup Mirk and be a secondary lob threat besides our center. Essentially a Morez, Awaka, Chinyelu type player.
Danilo would need to buy into being a rebounding and defensive menace.
Sorry, but I have no interest in us being responsible fiduciaries. Let's wildly and irresponsibly spend donor money to get a championship.Glad we’re being a bit more discretionary and responsible fiduciaries of donor $$$ via our version of Moneyball.
Yes.Is the euro add still in play as possibility?
As much as I’d like to know who we’re looking at, I think it’s best that the staff — and ONLY the staff — know who they’ve got their eyes on.Yes.
