We were never in the lead at any point during the recruiting….

I'm not sure if folks are saying Illinois never led for a 4-star offensive lineman from Central Illinois prep prospect that visited Illinois more than any other school back in 2024 early in his recruiting process and was mentioned many times as a priority prospect in paywall articles is to soothe the fan base, but it's not working for me.

It's one prospect and that's meaningless in the big picture, but it will stings that he's going elsewhere (likely to a team that Illinois will face a couple times in his career).

Not sure Illinois is in a place resource-wise, prestige-wise, and in fans in attendance to beat Oregon head to head for a recruit they want, regardless of where they’re from.

If Martin is successful then I'll question my statistical sanity. An argument that "his coaching was awful" could make sense but Illinois was also interested in the coach. The biggest counter for my beliefs is a handful of other good programs were also interested in him, so there's something on that tape.

All I heard is that he has the physical tools to be good but he’s a project

Agree. Look at where the Dunlap Tight-Ends ended up; Alabama and Ole Miss (LSU now).

Having either of those TE's would have had a huge impact on this fall's team.

Watch JC Andersons hudl film. He’s not an instant impact guy. He does have a ton of potential.

If you put JC Anderson on the 2026 Illinois roster, is he even getting many snaps? I would be shocked if he got more than garbage time. I'm fully expecting him to be in the transfer portal in Winter 2027 (hot take).

I agree. Mack was a much better prospect. JC needs to get much more physical. He’s a basketball player that plays football.

Completely agree. Mack on this roster would have a shot to lead the TEs in snaps (possibly another hot take).
