He got a lot better defensively later on in the year though, that's an underrated reason we got better in the tournament.
Wagler's physical length testing out lower than expected but his athletic explosiveness testing out higher than expected kind of tells the tale of scouts thinking through the mystery of where this three-star recruit came from.
He's more athletic than his hyper-smooth tempo and hesitation based offensive game would indicate. He's got that little burst to beat a defender when he needs it.
Not to nitpick, but there not all of those were against high major defenders. I mean, Northwestern was in there...
Anybody on Purdue who doesn't answer Wagler.... I don't know what to tell you.
The stats point to top NBA talent.

Turn over rate - 10.6% to 12.4% - elite
2.3 to 2.8 assist-to-turnover rate - elite especially on a team that stressed isolation scoring reducing total assists
The only thing he’s missing is the physical strength needed to dislodge defenders. Two more years of weight training is all he needs

Yep. The kid just turned 19 in February. His body still likely has a lot of natural filling out to do. There is no question he will put in the work.

HOWEVER, it is a huge step for justice and fairness that with the draft process not going his way, Koa Peat has the ability to make several million dollars more to give it another shot at Arizona, and can potentially make way more money as a long-term college player than he would have as a second round washout. He's not one risky decision away from destroying the enormous financial potential of his talent and dedication to the sport.
And it's also of course a win for the sport of college basketball to return a star like that.

Boswell will need to take the Jordan Goodwin path to the NBA. Really focus on being a physical defender and shoot the 3 at a good enough clip to find a spot.
Crazy the top 10 are ALL college freshman. There’s gonna be a lot of instant impact upperclassmen that fall to some good teams. Thinking Thunder probdbly draft a guy like Yaxel.

Boswell is a graduating senior, but the NBA teams have to realize just how young he still is in comparison to other upperclassmen. Many of those were held back a year in grade or high school to give them an advantage and then didn't go early so some could be two years or more older than Boz. Though considering he looks like a grown @$$ man, they could miss that. Hope he get his name called - he deserves it for how he took KJ and KW under his wing and helped them to the league (have to believe his support helped them a lot).
The later Boswell lasts into the 2nd round, the less likely I think he gets picked. Those are still prime positions for teams to pick draft 'n stash guys.

Bleacher Report Mock from today. Has Wagler going 7th to the dreaded Kings. That would probably be the worst case scenario for him. I'd rather he fall further than go to the Kings.
Boswell goes 58th to the Pelicans.

Don't love seeing Andrej in mocks. Still makes no sense to go when he can come back for more money and play himself into a 1st rounder to make more long term.
With Morez officially staying in, I think we objectively won the made up trade of Morez for Mirk.

I really want to like this post, and I am exceedingly happy that Michigan will no longer have his services. But there is that pesky matter of them winning the national championship with him, so I don't know.
