Chicago Cubs 2026

Obviuosly their success wasn't dependent on their ex-manager.
Their success is their within their scouting department that finds pitcher, after pitcher, after pitcher, etc....and they develope them properly. They're never forced to overpay. They never even thought twice about re-signing Peralta. No problem. Plug n play. When you can save an insane amount of money there, the positional options are endless.

The Cubs can't draft and develop pitching whatsoever. That's been an issue going back 20 years.

It doesn’t seem like they are very good at developing young players period.

Only one more to make it 10 in a row. I have been following the Cubs since the mid 50's when they were buried in the second division. Don't ever remember it being this painful. May 8- Best record in Baseball, 3.5 game lead in first place. May 25 possibly tied for last place in the division if the Reds beat the lowly Mets.

Hard to believe how bad Swanson is at the plate. Conforto should be coming off the bench, not starting but I understand why Counsell has tried him everyday this week. He’s begging for someone to please hit.

Boy does Brown look good. What a great job stepping into the starting rotation.
If anyone were to tell me that on May 25 we would be on the cusp of our 3rd 10 game streak and Ben Brown would be our ace.....

My mistake. They need to lose tomorrow to fall to last place.

Cubs, 3 10 game streaks in the same season. 2 winning, one losing. Probably never done before in MLB history, but just guessing.

I think this is right. Only the Cubs and the Dodgers had two 10 game winning streaks and 8 game losing streaks in the same season so I'm pretty sure it's never been done before.

The 2017 Dodgers are the only other team in MLB history with two 10-game winning streaks and one 10-game losing streak in the same season, according to Elias.

2017 Los Angeles Dodgers Statistics

Record: 104-58, Finished 1st in NL_West

Postseason:
Lost World Series (4-3) to Houston Astros
Won NL Championship Series (4-1) over Chicago Cubs

It's only May. They have lots of time to have another 10 game winning/losing streak and break that record.

Call me a pessimist but I don't think the Cubs will get 104 wins.
