I said he can help at the 4 if necessary, not that he was "recruited to play there." That doesn't mean that's his only position or even his main position. If you think he will play next season at the 4 or was recruited to do so at Illinois i highly disagree. If Z, T or Mirk get hurt it will be Jason to rebound and play D or Dre. We will miss Ben if Jason cant do those 2 things. BU said in the podcast Jason was going to play "a lot" but the clot happenned. I dont know about a lot but i think he can. I doubt our program ever recruits a 6'7" 210lb freshman to be expected to be play significant minutes at the power forward given where our program is today. I hope and feel most will be as long and more physical than Ben much less Zens at a program like ours going forward. We are not most programs and those that are playing for us wont be 6'7" 210 to 215 lbs. Zens isnt a PF for us and wont be. If so then we will not be elite. We wouldnt beat teams like Houston, MSU , or top teams if thats what you see playing the 4 for us.
Flipping someone from Nebraska
Given the character Boswell and Fears have shown, I'm not sure I would count it as a miss. It is possible that if Fears came here, BU would have lowered the hammer on him at the first sign of the cheap shots, doing everyone, especially Fears, a big favor.People are still questioning Underwood recruiting? The Illini found Wagler and Coleman. Thompson price was too high and Davis was deemed to small. Illinois will have misses like they took Boswell over Fears. They will be fine in the long run.

The state's best have all left so much that our top recruit is barely in the top 150? Is this the norm or just 2026?Weird, I thought he had a bad visit and IL backed off.
I take it something changed? He does announce today..
Imo he had one of the weirdest recruitment that I’ve seen in a while…he probably was waiting for better offers.Weird, I thought he had a bad visit and IL backed off.

The norm mostly. All the top guys are going to out-of-state prep schools. 2026 seems to be a particularly weak in-state class, but the 2025 class didn't look much better. 2027 looks to be quite a bit stronger with Jaxson Davis and Quinton Kitt, but there's still time for those guys to bail and do their senior year at an out-of-state prep school I guess. The state's best have all left so much that our top recruit is barely in the top 150? I think most have assumed that all along. They're loaded w/o him.Not necessarily Illinois-related but it had came up as roster evaluations were being made on here re: Duke, Florida, etcetera but CJ Moore of The Athletic said on Werner podcast that its extremely unlikely Aberdeen gets cleared/eligibility for Florida this upcoming season.
Definitely the new norm. Even Coleman was in O'fallon before he went to Principia. The state's best have all left so much that our top recruit is barely in the top 150? Is this the norm or just 2026?

I am not certain about Slovania but I can confirm none of our staff was in Montenegro yesterday as I did not see them. On an another note let me tell you Montenegro is beautiful, unlike central Illinois, Mirc must have only been interested in playing for Brad.
