NBA Draft

#27
I think the world of Wagler and having Illini stars on the Bulls is a lot of fun.

That said I will be EXTREMELY upset if Bryson Graham's first act as GM is overcomplicating the very obvious task he has with the #4 pick.
Absolutely. This is a 4 person draft. The Bulls pick 4th. Pick the guy that is available. As simple as it could ever be with #4.

That’d be quite unideal
I think that someone is going to trade up to get Acuff. The Clippers are holding an extremely valuable card right now. The draft is clearly painted as a top 4, then a falloff. If you can move up a few spots to take the guy that you feel is the best player after Wilson, Boozer, Dybansta and Peterson.....you do it. OKC has a zillion draft picks. I can see them doing it. I have heard that Dallas is the one infatuated with him.

His note on Wagler, however, is more illuminating. Vecenie said that the Clippers are unlikely to draft Darius Acuff Jr. or Kingston Flemings due to concerns about their fit with Darius Garland. Acuff and Flemings would make for an undersized backcourt that could create serious issues on both ends of the floor.

Wagler, on the other hand, has been adding muscle throughout the pre-draft process, per Vecenie. The talented guard who came to Illinois at 168 pounds is now 188 pounds, and he should be able to add more strength going forward.

"5. LA Clippers (via IND)
Keaton Wagler | 6-5 wing | 19 years old | Illinois

It’ll be fascinating to see what the Clippers do at No. 5. Sources have indicated that the team is digging into all the top guard prospects as well as exploring potential trade-down scenarios that could result in them accumulating more assets. I’ve also heard Aday Mara’s name associated with the Clippers, although it’s difficult to tell if that would be at No. 5 or in a potential trade down.

Wagler is clearly the best fit of the guards, though, if LA stays at No. 5. He can play both on and off ball and has enough positional size to play next to Darius Garland, whom the team acquired for James Harden at the deadline. Garland played well down the stretch for the Clippers and should be seen as a building block, and I’m skeptical that the Clippers would have enough size defensively by taking Darius Acuff Jr. or Kingston Flemings to play with him. Sources have indicated that Wagler has added muscle to his frame during the pre-draft process. He came to Illinois at 168 pounds and weighed 188 pounds at the combine; his frame should be able to continue adding strength over the next few years."

"Keaton Wagler

High End: Tyrese Haliburton
Low End: Ty Jerome

The comparisons to Haliburton have been frequent for Wagler, who has charted a similar path as the Pacers’ star rising from underrated slender three-star recruit to lottery pick. Wagler doesn’t have quite the same pedigree as a passer that Haliburton did coming out of Iowa State, but is an outstanding decision-maker who seems to always make the right play. And like Haliburton, Wagler is an outstanding shooter off the dribble, a skill that has unlocked so much of the rest of his arsenal.

That said, even if Wagler can’t blossom into a Haliburton-like offensive engine, he should still have a safe floor as a role player like Jerome, a terrific shooter and savvy decision-maker who has overperformed his lacking physical tools. "

Lol the high end/low end for Boozer is ridiculous. Ceiling is 5x All-Star, 2x All-NBA. Floor is 5x All-Star, 1x All-NBA, 1x All-Defense. What a tiny range of possibilities.

Love the TMac comp for Dybantsa, that's exactly the type of player he is.
