Guardians lost again today, so Sox are TIED FOR FIRST PLACE!!
Bingo cards, anyone?!
Going up against Chris Sale right now, with sole possession of first place in the balance.
WOWSERS!
Munetaka comes off 10 day IL tomorrow, iirc.

I have a 1st cousin who is 1 year older than me and he grew up in Chicago South Side.......my Aunt and Uncle would send him down to McLeansboro ( where I grew up ) every summer during the school shutdowns and he was a die hard chisox fan.....his favorite player was Mike Hershburger , a nondescript outfielder who my cousin liked because he hustled all the time.....I started liking the chisox also and Luis Aparicio was my fav as he played SS which was my position when I wasn't pitching......we had some monumental whiffle ball games back then......ah , memories are golden ...........they really really are.......I am now watching some chisox games....they are very entertaining.............
Nice post Pru. Loved Little Luis and Nellie too. Dad took me to my first major league game in old Comiskey Park in '59. My first year of Little League. Played second as my arm was not yet strong enough to play short. Got there my second year. Played in Kankakee where we were given complete cotton flannel uniform sets including hats, sleeves and stirrups. Each team uniform set was unique in color. Our team sponsor was KFL (Kankakee Federation of Labor). Man, I was so proud wearing that uniform. As for whiffle ball, my buddies and I configured a "stadium" using the sides of adjoining houses and a long hedges (hedges were popular back then as you know). Made signs indicating distances to left, center and right. Five on five games (occasionally more). Pitcher's hand. Either left or right outfield (as indicated by the batter) was an automatic out. Played hours upon hours of team games or homerun derby when our numbers were short. 65 years ago now but the memories and the pleasure of playing have not faded. Live in Georgia now so I keep up with the Sox on the internet. GO SOX!!

Make that first place Chicago White Sox

It’s a beautiful thing when your trades and good draft picks actually result in great MLB talent taking shape. And it’s also great to see the fan energy returning to the South Side. Sox fans always show up in numbers when there is something worthwhile to see, like these days.

When do Playoff tickets go on sale!?

I think a good hire at the manager position has also been a big factor.

Munetaka might be eligible to come off the IL today, but that ain’t happening. I believe prognosis was he’d miss four to six weeks, so likely early July is soonest.

I just took a look at the last couple pages of the Cubs thread. They're melting down over there.
I find the baseball thread segregation here amusing. It's probably for the best, I wouldn't want any of those Cardinals freaks in the Cubs thread.

I stand with you in anti-Reinsdorf solidarity ✊

I’m guessing you and Sox ownership have differing thoughts on what showing “up in numbers” means. They are 24th in attendance with an average of a shade under 21k. Last night Sox drew 14.622 fans. Only three teams drew fewer — two teams that are double digit games behind in their divisions (Balt and Miami) and one playing in a minor league park (Athletics). Not all that impressive when you’re battling for divisional lead and playing best team in baseball with an ace pitching who used to play for Sox.

Now we are up 2,700 per game over last year, so hopefully attendance keeps growing. I think they had bigger crowd on Tuesday. And weekend attendance has been solid. I have four friends heading to game on Friday, so that will help.

You are prolly right, but the key is he will be off the IL, so he can step in when ready, and he can be on the bench w the guys. All good stuff

Anyone know what is up with Bergolla? I know he got into a collision with Sam A early in season and hurt his shin, but just noticed he still isn’t back with Charlotte.

What percentage of White Sox fans agree with you? Let's see... do numbers even go up that high? Sometimes one succeeds BECAUSE of somebody. And sometimes one succeeds IN SPITE OF somebody.

The best thing the current Owner will ever do is to sell the Sox one day soon to the group that wants to buy them... provided neither group has plans to move the franchise.

We've got a budding powerhouse here so let's not see anyone screw that up.
