Decades ago, I got my hair cut at an old school barbershop on 72nd Street in Manhattan's Upper West Side. No frills, a few older guys with the blue sanitary shirts. One day, I'm heading there, and across the street there's a sign saying that one of the barbers, Rubin, has opened up his own place, one floor up. He might have been the best barber at the shop and I'm always willing to help out a new business, so I went there instead.

From the moment I walked in, through the entire haircut, to the moment I walked out, Rubin stared across the street at his old shop muttering incomprehensibly about his former co-workers and the customers who were still going to their barbershop. I never went to either barbershop again.

Jesse Marsch always reminds me of Rubin, glaring across the street at the USMNT job instead of focusing on what's at hand.

Paraguay were playing like a bunch of thugs. The fact that they had ZERO yellow cards and France had 3 shows how terrible the ref was.
Agree 100%...the winning PK had to be called by VAR

I have watched a lot of soccer over the years. The officiating in the France-Paraguay game was probably the most poorly-officiated elite professional game I’ve ever seen. Words cannot describe how poor that performance was. The referee genuinely looked scared to call anything.

Both games today had strong elements of dark arts and s***housing. Michael Oliver did extremely well to keep the Canada-Morocco game under control. The same cannot be said for the France-Paraguay game.

As someone rooting for Paraguay.. yeah. France felt the physicality and let themselves go here and there, but the disparity is wrong both broadly and on many individual plays. I wouldn't weigh in on something so obvious, but: I was rooting for Paraguay around others rooting for Paraguay with the game on mute. I was frequently confused by the stoppages or lack thereof.
