Kentucky’s going after Pettigrew.

After watching his game, my scout on Pettigrew would be this:

1) Very good "feel." The opponent came out with the game plan of wanting to double him every play. He never took bad shots, and was always willing to pass, despite being the 6th highest scorer on the circuit. I don't even think he scored until the 2nd QTR, and still got to 21pts (including the game winner). Really felt like one of those Wagler-type 2nd half performances.

2) Great Mid Range shooter and free throw shooter. His pull up mid range is about as smooth as you can find. Also, in that event, guys miss so many free throws (and did in this game as well). He didn't miss any, and had to poise to make the winning FT at the end.

3pt ball might be a bit of a work in progress -- I don’t remember him attempting any in this game (could be wrong). He's certainly not an elite 3pt shooter, but I don’t think he’s a bad shooter either.

3) Outstanding body. Especially for his age -- he is built, paired with a 6"4 body. Definitely not the "small guard" prototype we've gone away from.

4) Terrific athlete and finisher. There are plays he will get downhill, and score undeterred. Actually hurt himself on an and-1, but played thru it.

5) Competitor. Was very clearly in pain, but played thru it and played every minute of the game. Mentioned the desire to stay on the court in the post game interview.

Overall, recruiting is fluid, and we'll see where it goes. However, a guy like that is an automatic take, regardless of class. Probably a plug and play starter.

Great scout. I think he needs to see what happens with 5 for 5 and our returnees after we win the national title next April 😃
