Great day for the Cubs. Solid pickups without giving away the farm.
Slug fest at Wrigley against the Dodgers. 3-2 bottom of the first. Cubs still batting. 
Alcantara first major league HR batting 9th and slugging .220. Cubs 4-3 after 2.
Rojas is a good prospect, but there is nowhere for him to play in Chicago. Obviously we have the big money guys all over the infield, but we also still have Shaw… and Pedro Ramirez, who is just 22 and has been a revelation lately.
I did not want to lose Rojas. Think he could be pretty special. And losing him for a rental and a journeyman OF makes it worse. All that said, not every prospect will end up in a Cubs uniform. Just a different way he can help Cubs win. And Holmes and Taylor should help Cubs win. And Pedro has been doing a great job.

That’s not many to judge a player on. Good thing, too, otherwise Sandberg would have been tossed out of the league after 0-45 start or whatever it was.

The three starting pitchers haven’t been added to the roster yet. Not sure if we’ll Garrett before rosters expand in September.
I’m guessing Kelley and Ferguson are the next two to get launched. Choices will get harder when/if people start coming back from the IL.
If you’re not entertained by Cookie Monster singing the 7th inning stretch, you hate the Cubs, baseball and America, and probably had a rotten childhood.
Maybe… having tough choices on who is too good to send down is a heck of a lot more fun than tough choices on who is actually good enough to come up. We’ve had enough of the latter.
Seems like these things have a way of working themselves out.
Moises got a hit in his first at bat as an Angel. I think he finished 1 for 4.
Because he’s versatile. Not all pitchers can flip between different roles effectively.
Good to see your #1 prospect take responsibility. Of course, would rather he didn’t have to, but things happen during a long season. As long as it is a reoccurring theme, really no issue.
I would think the 8 relievers will be, once Cabrera gets back, will be Rea, Peterson, Assad, Thornton, Zeferjahn, Rolison, Webb and Theilbar. Hold back Palencia until the rosters expand in Sept. That is a solid relief core. Craig now has legitimate options late in games.
You could see just last night that the added depth Zeferjahn brings made a difference.
And the point you make about taking it slow with Palencia is important. I could see the Cubs also taking a little extra time to make sure Cabrera is right as well. As good as Assad has been lately, no reason to rush him back.
Gausman added to the roster. Kelly down to Iowa.
Much better rehab start than his first for Cabrera today. Threw 4 innings and gave up one hit and an unearned run with 8 Ks at Iowa.
