Chicago Cubs 2026

The Happ worry every year I've always been on the outside of. He is what he is, which is an above average player. His mobility on the base paths and his gold glove left field has insured him playing time all the while he goes through peaks and valleys at the plate. Needs a white hot patch to get back to career numbers, not certain after this is the 3/4 of a season, but already had a great stretch for about the first month and a half. Love to seem him end his cub career in style.

Insane to think how good this offense has been and we still have Dansby and Nico below .700 ops AND Busch and Happ are below career norms. Still room for improvement in the final quarter of the season. Getting into the push for playoffs. 5 back of the Brewers, gonna be hard but not out of the question.

We pick out all the warts this team has but last I checked, they have the 5th best record in MLB. This highlights your point in your last paragraph.

Cubs play 7 against the Brewers. Need to take at least 5 of 7 to have a chance to catch them

Can't highlight the "at least" enough. Going 5-2 in those games only nets 3 games in the standings.

To put it in perspective, with only 43 games to go, if Milwaukee goes 23-20(below their season winning percentage), the Cubs need to go 28-15 to tie.

If Milwaukee goes with their .622 pace, that gets them 27-16, which means the Cubs would need 32-11 to tie, which is a 101-61 season record.

It's very unlikely, but to have a shot, 5-2 is the absolute floor for what they need and the need Milwaukee to take a dive.

Cubs batters have figured out that you can redeem five unused ABS challenges for a free roast beef sandwich at participating Arby’s.

Gonna have quite a party at the end of the year with all them sandwiches.
