Not sure they need to start construction in the next 9 months, so maybe waiting is best,

more much ado about nothing. the Bears are pressuring IL pols for more tax subsidies. that's what the game has always been. I'll believe they're moving to Hammond when construction contracts are signed.

He is a complete clown. However, in this case, in an effort to create competition, Indiana put a deal together that Illinois just won't come close to. I think he stumbled into it, but the point stands that Indiana went all in and gave the Bears everything they wanted.
Chicago politicians are clear that if the stadium isn't going to be in Chicago or if the money isn't going to flow through Chicago, it's not going to be in Illinois. They won't provide the votes to pass any meaningful legislation to benefit the suburbs.
The Bears still have not paid for a full traffic study to be completed in AH and the surrounding areas(Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Mt. Prospect, Palatine, etc). They're clowns.
Every time I see this story I just get more irritated by Kevin Warren. Not a fan. Can't believe he landed with a job like this.

For anyone in central Illinois planning on watching the Bears preseason opener on Saturday, the game will air on CW 23. Fox national has horse racing airing on Saturday so the Bears get bumped over.
I fully believe he happened to be in the right place at the right time for basically his entire career . Things just worked out for him for various reasons.
I only know about his press conferences since he was with the Bears & B1G, but he seems uncomfortable & scripted all the time . I have a hard time envisioning him taking control in a meeting with anyone .

I think we can expect to see football at Soldier Field for the foreseeable future.
Wouldn't be the most Bearslike outcome ever? All of this back and forth and they'll just extend the lease.

As ridiculous as all the players in the stadium saga are, it’s hard for me to imagine that outcome. I do think the Bears will have to play there for at least another 5+ years. I’m not sure when the lease expires.
The least officially expires in 2033. They do have the option to break it early for a fairly significant amount. I agree with you that they're going to need the full amount of time. Now, what could be occurring is that what they are losing now in paying taxes on undeveloped land, they are going to save on the back end by not breaking the lease early, thus no effort to lock any Hammond deal down until Illinois comes up with their best offer? That does make a fair amount of sense. What does it take, 3-5 years to build the stadium once the shovels hit the ground? That gets pretty close to matching the timeline of the lease expiration.
Northwestern did it in like 29 months when you ignore the demo of Dyche
It think a motivated builder can do it in less than 3 years . I agree they have no reason to finish it more than a year or to before 2033
They also want it to matchup to prime Caleb time so it seems like go time now...

Whats up w this story about Antwan Randall El running the show last game? Are the Bears trying to showcase him for an opportunity elsewhere, or to incorporate him as Asst OC for the Bears??
McCaskeys never want to be real estate developers. If AH does move forward , they will sell off 98% of the real estate there not needed for the stadium or parking . national or midwest based corporate real estate outfits will buy it up & develop it as they & the local govt see fit

100% it’s a favor to Randal El to develop his coaching chops for inside Halas Hall and outside
This isn't a just a favor to help build a resume.
1)Johnson wants his assistants to see what he sees and can gather that experience to better work with the unit(s) that he coaches during the season.
2)He can call plays where he might want to see certain guys get a set amount of plays in their direction to see what they can do. The Bears have a logjam at the receiver spot and it's possible that there's a roster spot on the line. He needs to provide recommendations and you can't do that without seeing what you need to see.
3)MOST IMPORTANTLY, it gives Johnson a chance to sit back and see the game and his guys from a 50,000 feet view. You can't do that with your nose in a playbook managing the offense. He needs to do his own evaluations and take his own notes and see guys in various situations on both sides of the ball.
Part of the problem with being the head coach AND calling plays is that you're way too deep into the weeds to make individual judgements, thus, the standard....."I have to look at the tape" response. By handing the play calling off.....he sees the tape real time.
You have to remember, it's the preseason for everyone, including the coaches. They have a lot of very, very difficult decisions to make, especially given the injuries in camp. Handing over the play calling duties was not just doing ARE a solid. At the end of the day, if the Bears go 4-13 and the offense is significantly flawed, nobody is going anywhere except under a microscope. If the WR corp struggles, that would be a bigger issue.
There is a lot to work out and not a lot of time to do it.
