Week 1 Games

I was impressed by Northwestern yesterday. South Dakota State is a threat to win the FCS National Championship this year.

That’s great. If they go to Green Bay are you rooting for the Packers?

I still think well of Olano too. There’s another thread here where I talk that we will miss him more than people think. But I don’t want him to be great in Texas.
No, I'm not rooting for the packers if a Bear I like goes there. But I might hope the player does well unless he's facing us.

We have a whole thread where people, no doubt a lot of Bear fans, are rooting for former players to do well.

Was the Ryan Walters relationship so frayed that him returning to Illinois was off the table?

I think I remember Indy alluding to some level of interest after Purdue debacle, but curious. Personally, would have loved that.

everything I read was Walters burned that bridge with Brett & Josh & HR Admin and a return to UI will never ever happen

The Apple Cup should be called The Rotten Apple Cup this year. Oy vey, it’s bad-really bad. Dumb penalties, missed short field goals, UW not converting a goal to go from the 1, muffed punts. Just bad football.

I wouldn't say it's been a great week for the B1G "middle contenders". Anyone outside of OSU and IU hasn't really covered themselves in glory.

Iowa and Maryland maybe.

Wisconsin muffs a kick then follows it up with an unnecessary roughness call 2 plays later.

So I am half watching the Wisc-ND game. On the Wisc muff, did the ND player recover (with control) when his leg was out of bounds? Was there an explanation?

Replay appeared to show he didn't have control of the ball as his foot went out. But it was determined not enough to overturn call. When in doubt go with the blue blood for the call

So far the Wisky defense that seemed to improve last year looks capable
The defense definitely seems more physical. I don't want to take anything away from them, but I can't tell if Wisky is good, ND looks like poo, or ND has a bland game plan.

Their defense looks capable but their offense does not.

the TV announcers were talking about all the "turmoil" in the quarterback room the last couple of years --- injuries, defections, etc.

They've appeared to fix that with C. Joseph.
I beg to differ.

That Clemson QB is not going to last long with protection schemes like that. Oof.
Chad Morris should never be in consideration for a spot here. That's two clips from this game that are WTF. Still making a buck off of Deshaun Watson's magic those years back in Clemson.
