How many one run games have the Cubs lost this year? And of those 1 run loses how many has the bullpen lost? I know it’s been rough because of all the injuries but come on!

It’s going to have to be Zeferjahn or Palencia as closer from here on out. If they have a save chance tomorrow in the ninth I assume it will be Zeferjahn. But man at some point you may just have to throw Palencia in there. You can’t just pitch him once every three games from now til the end of the season.

I've gone from 0-60 on hating the Brewers with remarkable speed the last few years.
16-15 in one run games. I checked that stat during Monday's game. They were 16-13 at that time....

I hate all the teams in the Cubs division but I will say that I am envious of the Brewers fans. The team dumps Counsell who was widely thought to be the best manager in baseball (at least one of the best) and they don't miss a beat after that. In the last 10 years, their worst record (not including the Covid year) was in 2016 when they went 73-89. Since then they finished 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st (Covid year not included). That means that they are drafting at the bottom of the draft and yet they are masters (much like the Rays) at trading guys who are up for big contracts and maximizing the return. They are masters at scouting and development. And here is their payroll over that timeframe (season opening payroll is what I think these numbers are):
- 2026: ~$153.6 million (Ranked 19th in MLB)
- 2025: $108 million
- 2024: $100.2 million
- 2023: $118.8 million
- 2022: $131.9 million
- 2021: $99.3 million
- 2020: $39.2 million (prorated 60-game season)

Weren’t the Cubs 74-52 several weeks ago? After tonight 7-14 since then. Starting to feel a little collapse-y.
Another tease. Tying run at the plate. Another L. Brew Crew owned us yet again this year.
Why pinch hit for Kelly there with a kid who got brought up less than a week ago? If anyone gets on base there, the Cubs have PCA up and in a game winning situation.
