The first PGA University rankings for 2026-27 came out this week: https://www.pgatour.com/university/full-ranking

None of the three Illini seniors are in the rankings. Very interesting...
I actually don't understand this at all. Max 100% should be on that leaderboard. i've been trying to figure why he is not. If you look at the resumes of most of the, lets say, bottom 2/3s of that leaderboard Max is higher. I know Max struggled at times but he had a win, two 2s, a 3 and a 5th last year. He is 26 on WAGR for godsakes and played on the Palmer cup team. His junior year wasn't THAT bad, I need somebody to explain this a bit because AI and, frankly logic, tell me he should be quite high on this list.

NVM just got the answer:
'While his stellar junior year results will absolutely count toward his ranking math, PGA TOUR U requires a player to have played in at least 6 eligible tournaments within the rolling 104-week window to officially appear on the live ranking board. [1]
Because Herendeen was benched for a tournament last spring during a brief performance slump and played as an individual rather than in the official team lineup for another, his total number of fully eligible, sanctioned team starts over the lookback window temporarily sits just below that 6-tournament minimum threshold.'

Now that still only sorta makes sense, he played way more than 6 as a team member last year, but some combination of this is what has to be happening.

Lineup is released: Max, Dane, Trey, Ethan and Freddie will be on the roster for Sahalee, Jake will compete as an individual. Two rounds tomorrow, one round Sunday.

Going from Sahalee to Olympia Fields is wild, but this is probably most experienced team we've had in a long time - three seniors and three juniors are making the trip.

I went back to the previous years, and found this from September 2023:

Ji have five events from the previous year, and he was mostly competing as an individual IIRC. Max and Dane would definitely be included, I would think Ethan as well.

I did find that the deadline to sign up is December 1st. Perhaps they are keeping their options open.

a little surprised at Ethan getting the spot but great for him. He is solid and mustve come through the qualifiers. Gonna be serious competition for these starting spots. Jake was excellent down the stretch for us last year. one of our better performers.

options open for what? not sure why you wouldn't want to be included. Like a 5th year somewhere? I cannot imagine a player that had all of his success, including this summer, would not want to get a tour card somewhere after 4 full years.
