This sparks a question I have, next week I’ll be making a pilgrimage to tailgate the game against Southern. It’ll be my first tailgate that I’ve organized; went to quite a few when I was a student put on by my degree program. I’ll be in Lot 32 if that’s not as bad, but what time do I need to expect arriving to campus in order to have plenty of tailgating time? I can drop the car off the night before if needed.
Lots open at 7 am except Lot 33 - it opens 6 pm on the day before for RV parking.
Lot 31 is the lot people like to keep their exact same spots so they start lining up the night before.
How much tailgate time do you want given a 1 pm start time?
My guess is 8am-9am frame would be real simple to get in as the early early crowd would be in and settled but the normal crowd would be leisurely arriving.
Okay gotcha, that makes sense actually. I know Lot 31 is the top tier lot, so wasn’t sure if it would apply to 32, but making sure you get a specific spot makes sense. Honestly, I was going to try arriving around 6:30am. I’ve got an 8 hour playlist and tons of beer, couldn’t get enough tailgate time.
Need to see improvement in the tackling front today.
Biggest takeaway. We have to tackle better and we have to get the the QB. Converting 3rd and longs at a consistent rate is a one way ticket to a loss. This was a problem last year. Our defensive line, minus Jacas, just wasn't good enough. When that's the case, it makes the corners job almost impossible. If your defensive line can't be stout in the middle, it makes the linebackers job extremely difficult.
Ultimately, you end up having to blitz and that creates problems everywhere. Our overall lack of team speed and athleticism on that defensive makes getting home without blitzing, sealing the edge and not getting the ball rammed down our throat on first down even more important.
Tackling was a huge problem, but it's not easy when it's 1 on 1 in space. Can't write everything off to that. It'll be interesting.
I wish I were as confident as you are. I didn't see the evidence last week that we're good enough to beat a team as well coached as Duke. I hope you're right and I'm wrong.
