Surprised it took til week 3 for a Friday night that was marked by heat delays. And Labor Day was late this year. Next year the high school season will start August 20th & will get as early as like August 16th in a few years (assuming it starts 2 weeks before Labor Day weekend as it did this year). Given that these heat delays/cancellations will become commonplace in the first weeks of the IHSA season. Just another consequence of the entirely unneeded move to add a week to the season so 3-6 teams can get into the playoffs.

Im nominating this one as a contender for game of the year. This one had about everything in a highschool football game. Shootout in the first, Naz scored 29 unanswered, Montini almost went 2 full quarters without a first down, and Montini answered 20-0 to end the game.

The coach in the left hand side of the pic, Mike Bukovsky, is something else. Football, wrestling, girls softball, he wins at all of them.


First saw him coaching a travel softball team against my daughter as his daughter played as well. I chuckled, thought he was goofy, he kicked their butt and IIRC won the whole tournament. Then he shows up everywhere coaching and winning.
