There were only 7 above .300 in 2025 and in 2024 as well. Different approach at the plate these days than there used to be.

Well that one really hurt. Routine looking fly ball drops for walk off double. Should have been 2.5 game lead, instead it is only 0.5 games. Not sure why they played so shallow in left.

Obviously every game matters going down the stretch, but the next five days are likely make or break. The White Sox have their (by record) toughest 5 games left starting today. Cleveland has a softer end to the week. If the White Sox can win today to get back to 1.5 game lead going into Detroit series, I will be feeling pretty good. Then split the home series against Detroit at worst, and we would likely be in a position of being tied with Cleveland going into the final week of season (and owning tiebreaker).
If we can get to next week even with Cleveland, we are in very good position. Cleveland plays all their last 6 games of season on road and will be playing a road series in Boston...so go Sox!
Hopefully the players have short memories after that heartbreaking bloop double.

I think the Sox win division if they split the series this weekend against Tigers and win the final two series. 6-4 might get it done. Won't be easy given the way that Detroit had been playing and the severe fatigue the Sox have shown the last 10 days.
I believe Cleveland will likely go 5-4 the rest of the way (win two against both A's and Royals and lost two at red sox).
Winning the season series against Cleveland might be the ultimate trump card.
I think most anticipated that there would be a slide.....it just couldn't have come at a worse time. Very favorable schedule.

That is why winning the season series over Cleveland is so important. While the last two games really hurt, the Sox are still the only team in the AL Central that controls its own destiny.

Obviously the division race is key, but need to keep an eye on the wild card race as well. Currently the Sox have a one game lead (and tiebreaker) over the Rangers. They also own the tiebreaker against the Blue Jays (1.5 games back), but not against the Orioles (2.5 games back) nor the Astros should they get overtaken in the AL West - they are tied with the Rangers right now. Crazy that the AL West is actually WORSE than the AL Central.
Sox can also eliminate the Tigers if they take 3 of 4.

As bad as the past week has felt - currently the 2 seed with 9 games to go
6 at home; all vs losing teams and a worse SOS then every other contending team. How could you not like the chances? 4 wins probably is at least the wildcard and 5-6 wins probably wins the division. 6 probably also gets you the 2 seed

Two days ago I said the next five days could be make or break. 40% through that stretch the White Sox have gone 1-1 and lost 0.5 games in the Division race to Cleveland. If the Sox beat Cleveland on Wednesday, then a split vs Detroit would be adequate. I still think the Sox would be in a great position even if they lose two out of the next three games against Detroit, but they would likely lose control of their own destiny (assuming Cleveland wins two out of three vs Athletics).
My largest concern right now for the White Sox is the bats have cooled off substantially (over the last ten games, the Sox have only scored more than 3 runs twice). We all know the deficiencies in starting staff, which has put a large strain on the bullpen. By and large, the team has miraculously stayed afloat. However the team will need to put more than 3 runs on the board more consistently over the last 9 games (even against the weaker teams we will see next week).
It seems to feel like the Sox are home run or bust recently, and that needs to change quick. So many runners have been left in scoring position, often times getting in scoring position with less than two outs. I truly think the wear and tear of a long season has worn out many of the young players on the roster. Hopefully they find a spark to get through the next ten days. The Sox are in a position none of us expected before the season began, and regardless of outcome, the experience of competing for a division title will be invaluable for the years to come.

I was one who thought this kind of season was possible. The potential was there. Now it's a matter of bringing it all the way home.

I saw some stat (prior to yesterday) that murakami, Braden Montgomery and colson ranked as like the dead last 3 hitters in the entire league by a bunch of metrics the past 3 weeks. You just can’t have 1/3 of your lineup be a black hole.
I do think they will heat up a little more against some bad teams and bad pitching. It just feels so wide open with the seeding to get to the ALCS this year
The slump is tough to watch for sure. Still, they control their own fate in these final 9 games while holding the tiebreakers over Cleveland, Texas and Toronto. Let’s see if this young team can regroup in time for October.

Neighborood tension about a possible White Sox move out of their long-held 35th Street location to a new location is understandable. And not wanting a major railyard come into your neighborhood is also understandable. But this is what the Locals don’t seem to understand. If the Amtrak rail yard does not move to the 35th Street region from it’s current location across from The 78... then of course the new potential owners of the Sox can’t have that across-from ‘78' area site to build a new ball park. So there would be a real chance that the Sox would have to leave Chicago and look at Nashville or some other city if the new Sox owners were not interested in a Northwest Indiana site which I suggested if The 78 neighborhood site falls through.
In other words... the Sox are simply NOT STAYING in old neighborhood under any circumstances. The new owners have shown no interest in that whatsoever.
If the Bridgeport residents are successful in keeping the rail yard out... then they would have forced the Sox not only to leave Bridgeport but maybe the whole State of Illinois. Do they understand this? They are not going to convince new Sox owners to keep the franchise located where it now is. That is a non-starter. New ownership has shown no interest at all in that as an option. The franchise would have more value in another location.
In short... the ‘Neighbors’ will either have to accept the new rail yard in order to keep the Sox in Chicago. They are going to lose the Sox from their neighborhood one way or another. The question is whether they have any interest in the Sox staying in the South Loop or whether they will force the Sox to Tennessee or elsewhere.
It would a real sad irony if the Sox moved out of Chicago BECAUSE Bridgeport folks made them leave.

Ever since Peters crashed into the wall, the team hit a metaphorical wall. You could see the game slowly slipping away. The team has bounced back many times this season, but this might be the toughest.

Yep. Absolutely terrible loss, if only because there was a 6 run lead.
The bullpen needs a break. It seems that all of these short starts are finally catching up with the team, and Detroit can really hit the ball (especially mistakes).
Burke and Martin need to eat innings the next two days. Those are the two "aces" on the squad, and the team really needs them to deliver.
Really need to at least split these next two games.
The one thing about 162 games is that things have a habit of evening themselves out. They were winning some wild games in some wild fashion. Now, they are losing games in the same fashion. Tonight was a huge gut punch. The pitching is just all over the place. A loss tonight simply can't happen to any team, much less one trying to sneak into the playoffs.
