The lawmakers voted 52-47 against a provision that would have capped how much money coaches can earn from their schools at $5 million per year and restricted how often they can change jobs.

"If the bill supporters believe these rules are necessary for athletes, they should be willing to apply them to coaches, as well," Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J.. said. "This bill sells out college athletes."

JMO - NCAA and universities were screwing athletes for 100 years. Stop pretending they are not paid employees. Even if the bill passes some bright attorney is going to sue using IRS definition of employee - control activities, paid, etc and will win in court.

The universities and NCAA only care about money. If they want to have non revenue sports then they should pay for them. No reason football and basketball athletes should be stopped from making market compensation to pay for soccer or water polo team.

Its NCAA rules that put limits on $NIL contracts. Eliminate any NCAA rules on it and you will get enforceable multiyear contracts just like pro sports.

Congress and Senate have serious issues to address. NCAA football and basketball would be about 100th on my list.

Another bored, OT post here. I have been sick on the couch the last two days, and I was looking up MLB history from before I was old enough to really remember it, and it got me thinking how much I HATE our current culture of acting like anything short of a national title of some kind is somehow not elite. I specifically thought of this in regard to how many people crap all over Oregon for "zero natties" even though they have been a very impressive program in the modern era, but it was the 1990s Atlanta Braves that really caught my attention. Like, half of the trolls on social media these days would reduce what was ABSOLUTELY an amazing dynasty throughout the decade to "all that just for one World Series." It's infuriatingly stupid.

So, in the spirit of celebrating things that are objectively worth celebrating but fall short of "winning it all," I give you the most Big Ten Tournament Semifinals appearances by school. This is often cited as a benchmark for "success" whenever the BTT rolls around (i.e., "making it to Saturday"), so I thought it would be interesting to look at the all-time list! First, here is the list in chronological order, and then the total appearances by school NOT counting vacated appearances.

Pretty crazy that we have 14 (third most all-time), but we made ZERO semifinals from 2011 to 2019, lol. In the first 8 BTTs, we made the semifinals all 8 years, the championship in 5 of 8 years and secured 2 BTT titles.

Lucky May left - that guy was also a savant. Him and Hurley would have been the two best coaches in the sport. That 4 year run he was on included being a buzzer beater short of a Final with FAU, turning Howard's hot mess at UM around in one year to a S16 and then winning a NC with the best portal pull of all time. You could put that right up there with Hurley's 4 year run TBH.

Duke is going to be ridiculous. They have depth and an answer for everything. We could match up really well as have the positional size to deal with them, and be a mismatch in some cases. That team is loaded - could be his best roster yet if this JBB kid is all that's being talked about.
