I'm still relatively happy with any season that ends in a bowl game. I did not have high expectations this year, but from where we've come, I think we have the right leadership.

Every year, and this may be happening everywhere, but we are always surprised at the cost of players in both basketball and football. Our NIL pool better be about 30-50% more than we think we need so we can compete.

Obviously Houck was big miss, but laying an offensive egg is unacceptable against a bad Purdue team.

Section 118, in horseshoe
I had season tickets in the last row of the Horseshoe under the scoreboard in '23. I never noticed any issues there. The proximity to the scoreboard was a factor, but the vibe in the Horseshoe, to me, was completely different than on the Westside. The fact I could stand the whole game (which I did), was also awesome and a sell for those seats.

If we could get the entire stadium filled with the fine folks who go out of their way to get last row tickets specifically so they can stand the entire game, our atmosphere would be awesome.

Salute to the last row Horseshoers. 🫡

I had last row Horseshoe season tickets during the Zook/Beckman years. Highly recommended.
You could stand when you wanted and when you sat the scaffolding was a good backrest.
During the first half of the year the breeze from the South was unbelievably refreshing. During the second half of the year when it got colder, I would eventually find my way to empty seats in the East grandstand during the game.
The best part, if I recall, the entire season was $77 per season ticket. Have no idea what it is now.

I think its around $100 a ticket now for the whole season. Maybe a bit more. My brother has four seats and we have two in row 1, and two directly behind in row 2. I think its great. I love the angle. We really enjoy the atmosphere. The previous four or five seasons we were in 116.

Why should I have to stand in the back row to stand? People need to get the !!!! off their !!! and cheer.
You don’t!

Stand all you want w/o worries. It’s not like somebody is going to throw you out. If everybody so-inclined started to stand frequently and made a bunch of noise, we might change our culture and everybody else’s expectations.

This is such a strange and annoying phenomenon. During every important 3rd down when Illini were on defense I was 1 of less than 10 people in my section who were standing/cheering loudly/clapping.

I just don't get it. It's not like this at any other football games I go to.
This was also an issue at the Rams' games in St. Louis. In the lower bowl, you always had the blue-hairs scolding you to sit down, so they could watch the game. The fan participation was so lackluster they started showing "how-to-be-a-fan" videos with WWE wrestlers encouraging you to clap on 3rd down.

I cheer loudly on every third down. But I also get the issue. When the team gives up first down after first down and you lose almost all hope of a stop it’s hard. Not a good excuse but I get it.
