Chicago White Sox 2026

Venable has been the biggest change in my opinion. He’s smart, well spoken, and seems to be a leader.

Venable was a rock-star hire. He is responsible for so much of the Sox success... along with the General Manager. Those big trades the Sox made brought in much of the young talent we now see.

Going forward it will be a matter of keeping all these guys together. They can start by re-signing the Japanese Home Run King to a longer deal... although some reports say the Sox owner doesn't want to.

So let's hope the Sox keep the window of success open and growing and not let the usual old issues derail this great Sox revival.

Just saw that Sox are playing Caleb Bonemer in CF in the Arizona Fall League. Not sure if he played there at end of the season or not. Move makes sense.

Dick's Sporting Goods does not have one piece of Chicago White Sox merchandise in their Champaign, IL store.

They have Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Cardinals ... but absolutely nothing for the Chisox.

I realize that the Cubs / Cardinals fandom is strong in East Central Illinois, but I think it is just crazy that Dick's has absolute nothing for fans of the South siders.

Rally House has a pretty decent selection of White Sox merchandise for those looking. Rant over.

Couldn't quite get it done today. Sox hitters struck out 19 times and Sox pitchers walked 10 Guardians batters. Perhaps the young Sox got a little too amped from their own home crowd.

Sox gear is the classiest there is! Dick’s probably sold out.

The Sox have been playing well lately so I guess they were due to play a stinker. Just too bad it had to be in front of such an eager and enthusiastic crowd with so much on the line. But the young Sox get another chance and should not seem so over-anxious.

Sox could not manufacture hits. Nothing out of Murakami or the two Montgomerys’. Can’t have that in a big game like this when you give up so many runs.

The next game (or two?) will reveal who deserves to play on into the World Series. The Sox will get one more win and make Sox Nation happy... or Cleveland will win out. And if they do, then they will have earned the right to play on. The Sox got a perfect setup to close things out.

Either way it’s been a great year. The Sox still have a great chance here. And to come so far this season just to see them flame out at this point would be a MAJOR disappointment.

Sox could use a good pep-talk. Maybe from someone within the City of Rome? Or maybe from the best basketball player of all time?

When -- not if, please -- the Sox beat Cleveland and move on to the next round(s)... they will have some intriguing matchup possibilities.

First off, Tampa Bay. The Sox would be playing in the City/Region that The Owner threatened to move the Sox franchise to almost 40 year ago.

Once (not if, please) the Sox finish off Tampa, they would play either Milwaukee or Los Angeles.

Milwaukee. The City the Sox ALMOST moved to back in 1969. That was a close one, just like Tampa Bay was twenty years later.

Los Angeles. The franchise the Sox lost the 1959 World Series to (which the Sox should have won).

In fact, you could not have set up any more provocative matchups than these at this point.

Job One for the Sox: Keep Winning.

Job Two: Have a great victory parade.

Job Three (or maybe Job One): Get that new Owner in and let him build that South Loop ball park so the Sox (and we) never have to worry about them leaving town again.

Bullpen is...gassed. Cleveland squandered opportunities in Games 1 and 2, not so much these last two games.

Going to be real difficult to recover on Saturday (unless Cleveland implodes down the stretch tonight).

It's hard to imagine a worse scenario than how the Sox played in these last two home games before hungry and enthusiastic Sox fans. Cleveland went out there and got the job done while the Sox wilted badly. Nobody stood up to take charge and lead the Sox when they needed it most. Who is the team leader on the field? Someone has to step up.

Even so, the Sox get one more chance to save the season. Made they'll feel less pressure now and just go out there and play. It would be a shame to end this season on such a sour note as this.

I predict...
Road teams win all games this series.
GO SOX !!
It has not looked good for the Sox the last two days, but Vogt has inexplicably mismanaged his bullpen at the end of the last two games. He leveraged his closer in both games in the 8th inning when they were up by 4 and 5 runs, respectively. He then had to panic and put his second ace starter in to get the last couple of outs last night (and he got hit relatively hard, though right at people). It was a really puzzling management of resources there.

If Burke can go out and attack the weak Cleveland hitters (not falling behind in the count like we have been) and pitch around 5 innings, I think the Sox win.

As for Venable, I though he left in Fedde a touch too long last night. Fedde fired the baseball into the upper deck after he got out of the 4th inning to chants of his name. I figured we would see the bullpen go from there in the 5th inning on. Venable left him in the game and Fedde proceeded to allow a homer, a sharp line out to Center and a single in the fifth. After that the bullpen collapsed allowing a homer to Ramirez and whatever you call the 6th inning. It seemed desperate to bring in Taylor in the 6th inning in a tie ball game.

Hopefully the off day will help clear the minds of the pitching staff. They are on fumes, but if they can throw strikes, Cleveland will have to string 3-4 hits together to score runs. We have the right guy on the mound and a, relatively speaking, non-intrusive environment road game in a winner take all. Let's get it done and face the Rays next week!

Personally, I also found it a bit desperate to play the infield in in the sixth inning with the bases loaded. I could maybe understand bringing in the corners, but both hits were likely outs if Meidroth was playing back. It led to a huge inning instead of being down a run or two. Seemed too early in that game for that in my opinion.

I hate the infield in. It makes sense at the end of the game sometimes with less than two outs and only a runner on third. you end up allowing a big inning instead of one run. 6th inning position for the double play.

Completely agree. It is probably difficult to turn the double play, but there was one out in that situation. It made no sense to not be in double-play depth, IMO. If the ball is hit sharply enough, it is an easy double play and out of inning down by a run. We also invited the big inning with walks and HBPs. The Sox have been their own worst enemy these last two games. Cleveland has a deeper pitching staff than the Sox, but the Sox offense is much better than Cleveland. Cut down on the free passes, and Cleveland is not producing many runs.

Not to be lost in that 6th inning debacle, there was also quite a bit of gamesmanship by Martinez that started off the 6th inning rally, which I thought was a bit over the top. He got hit in the leg by a pretty slow sweeper and acted like he got clipped by a fast ball hobbling around and bending over at least 20 times by home plate. I knew he was going to try to steal second after he pulled that stunt (which he did).
