Illinois 105, Cincinnati 96 (Exhibition) Postgame

The lineups were funky so I don’t wanna go overboard either way…

But hard not with Ethan Brown. And conversely, Vaaks.

Not that Vaaks was bad, in fact, the opposite. But minutes under 20, bench. I’m confident he’ll start, but I’m curious.
One would expect more minutes from SV and Z, but that would be forgetting that BU needs to find two guys off the bench that he can trust, He would likely prefer even more of these types of preseason games with which to do that. Brown looks to have a spot, and maybe JJ.

I assume there were some messages being sent...

I know I've been too nitpicky and negative at times, but

If the Illini Freshmen played half the minutes,
without Mirk,
against a potentially Top 30 team
with an impressive defense
on the road, "packed house" or not, then . . . . . . . .

this VICTORY is a validation that this Illini team is a National Contender--no doubt!

Yes, I know it was an exhibition and all that that comes with. Illinois is EXTREMELY talented, and they should believe very strongly that they can win the national title because they can.
Yeah offensively I can’t imagine there’s a better team out there. I mean it’s just a unit with overwhelming talent, size and unselfishness

By all means, dissect the first exhibition game with an aberration-corrected transmission electron microscope. 🤓
We are not rolling out A lineup and good defense on purpose. Underwood stated younger kids by all accounts were going to play bunch and he was going to throw whacko lineups on floor.

How much time is Mirk expected to miss? I haven’t come across any recent updates.
