Seems like we're a consensus #3 in nearly every metric and ranking I see. We'll have plenty of chances to prove ourselves and move up early on. We'll know quickly how strong this team is.

Highest preseason rank since being preseason #3 in 2001-2002.
The only time we've been ranked higher preseason was 84-85 when we were ranked #2.

Also the highest we've been ranked under BU since the last poll of 2021 where we ranked #2.

Give me all the expectations. All the targets on our backs. Let them hunt us.

I've had every one one of these thoughts thinking about this thread.... 🤔

Suppose it's good for PR and recruiting profile, but will be earned/decided on the court ... (hopefully in Detroit in April, shortly before Brad and crew are cutting down nets!). Let's just do it.

I am normally a pessimist (being a Cub fan & an Illini fan will do that to you), but I am very optimistic this year. Something about this whole thing just makes me feel like it's time to win the whole thing. I really like that we made it to the final 4, kept all the guys we could reasonably be expected to keep (sans Wagler) & now are a year older and a year hungrier with a coach leading the way who is saying all the right things. No excuses, no settling, just do whatever it takes to get it done. The moment is there for them to capture. If they fail it won't be because they are afraid of it.
