But this is still year 6 for him... including a redshirt year... what am I missing?
The argument as @the juiceman cometh has touched on is that TKR has had 5 seasons. One redshirt year + 4 playing years. But had the rules been the way they are now, he would not have redshirted. So he lost a year of eligibility due to the old rules.

He played four seasons (2022-23, 23-24, 24-25, and 25-26) after redshirting 2021-22. He argued that he would not have redshirted if he had been under the current rules, so he should be entitled to a 5th year

Just to be clear, that is in fact the argument to my understanding. But I do think that argument is dumb.

And, if he wouldn’t have redshirted, he would have lost his eligibility last year and already be playing in Europe or in the G league. Either way he shouldn’t be allowed to play.

Funny Dennis Gates said he built his roster with substantially less money than his peers yet is in the same tier as Miami, Houston, Gonzaga, MSU etc… top 30 in spending at minimum. Get outta here buddy.

So good to see! Let's stay there. I saw something where Illini basketball pulls top 3-5 in eyeballs per basketball programs.
