Gies Memorial Stadium

I have nothing but respect for Larry Gies - imagine a world in which we had 10 more people just like him

I know what you’re saying , but they do sell this product called paint for 5 years down the road
Yeh, all too familiar with it. Just repainted my west-facing front door last week!

I would imagine it's because lighter colors show dirt/wear and tear more easily. A darker color keeps it looking better so you don't have to constantly do non-essential maintenance on it
But light grey is a lighter color than Orange...just saying.

Make it orange or at least keep it blue...grey is not even a thing for our colors and looks terrible.

I’m in the minority here but when I saw the aerial shots of MS from behind the new scoreboard, I thought it all looked really nice together. Very clean.

But maybe it would look even better with that dark blue.

Same, I like the new look better. Walking in yesterday I thought to myself, "The back of the new scoreboard looks really nice now that it's complete."

It still won't show scuffs and dirt as quickly. With a color as bright as orange, any variation is asking to be noticed

Could the lighter color be to keep the heat down on the electronics?

You are wrong. Not only bball and football, but volleyball as well. I can, without any doubt ,say that he has given additional money (beyond expectations), without any tax right off.
Whitman himself confirmed that Gies previously said he would never give money to athletics until he finally did with the $100 million. But that $100 million is famously not going toward paying the players.

And I’m not knocking Gies. He’s doing it the smart way. He’s not just tossing away money that won’t offer him a return on investment of some sort. The “gifts” to the business school and the stadium renovation are most certainly tax deductible. And as a smart businessman he would most certainly take advantage of that.

You and I will fight this fight wherever it takes us, brother.
:ROFLMAO:

We have beat this horse to death before, of course, but it just wreaks of Mike Thomas. And it wreaks of Mike Thomas being sold hook, line and sinker from one of Nike's C tier reps in 2014 or whatever. "Trust me, sir ... TH1S is what the kids think is cool."

And the problem is that while our 1LL1NO1S font was never very cool ... even if it USED to be somewhat cool when it was trotted out, the tide has decisively turned away from that sort of look. I would wager there are very few people alive who'd think it would not be a huge upgrade to have Script or simple block letter font in our end zones, for example. And we already have the "right" to use both, clearly! So I truly do not get the holdup.
