College Sports (Football)

I know the SEC and Big 10 want to monopolize the CFP and box out the Big 12 and ACC. But for the greater good, college football needs strong Big 12, ACC, and even CUSA and Mountain West conferences.
They're going to pick the top TV eyeball teams from the Big 12 and ACC in the early 2030's and close the super league for good, under an "eat what you kill" financial model that permanently locks schools like us into second class citizen status.

That's the endgame, and my disappointment with the Protect College Sports Act is that this is the one chance for all time to stop that outcome and it's not being used as a leverage point the way it could be.

This is very disheartening - it's all about what is best for me in the near term, what is best for everyone in the long term be damned. Indicative of our society as a whole unfortunately

This is a college football and college hockey comment. My son lives in Kalamazoo and attends WMU hockey games. This just happened tonight. He said WMU played Michigan at home tonight. Michigan won the game with 0.1 on the clock on a long slap shot. No putting time back on the clock nonsense but still…CURSE YOU scUM!!

Apropos of nothing, I happened upon Angelo McCullom’s ESPN page and saw that he has only appeared in 2 games this season with 1.5 tackles. I know he’s young and has time to develop but I think his best chance to do that was here (I know, money). Not to mention there is at least a chance that his chosen destination does not even make a bowl game.

I just rewatched that hit he took in the USC game

just brutal . terrible .
Yes, it was absolutely horrendous.

The news of not playing the rest of season is, in itself, not at all surprising. Oregon's season (what the top players came back for) is completely over. There is virtually no upside in Moore returning for a subjectively meaningless month of football. I just hope that this one hit will not ruin his chance of getting a good gig in the NFL.

Or worse, cause longer term health problems. Lost career opportunities pale in comparison.

I’ve watched enough people age with dementia, Parkinson’s etc to be more concerned with cognitive and brain health than almost any other aspect of aging.

This hit was pointlessly violent. It would literally be criminal if it had occurred anywhere but in a football game. In a just world the perpetrator would never be allowed to play again, based on how he celebrated it. Not a hint of remorse. Quite the opposite.
