Chicago Bears 2026-2027

That was a top 10 defense. The Bears put up 30 and Williams threw for 300+. I'd say it was pretty good.

Are there things to clean up? Always but let's not act like it was some horrid game.
Caleb didn't seem under pressure all night? Excellent playcalling and his superior arm saved the day. Some great catches too.

Based on his career stats, it was less than a 40% shot, he was 2-9 in attempts 55 yards or more in his career going into last night. But obviously Johnson sees him every day or most days and made the right call. I don't think many would have been upset with a punt there. But I agree the Bears D was getting gashed also.

And Santos even admitted postgame that on the missed kick earlier in the game that he tried to make it draw more than he intended.

Wonder if we can pick up a veteran fa who maybe can't run the routes as well anymore but still has some run blocking chops.
The Bears took this guy in the 3rd round. It's a pretty high pick. The game vs Seattle is week 8. He's got to give them something. Average works. He can't be a negative. This is beyond a golden opportunity for him.

Kmet's blocking has been a huge part of the Bears success, and they have been in 3 TE packages a lot.

Trapillo or Benedet being a better stand-in for that role than a practice squad TE doesn't seem impossible.
This year, the Bears have actually had more success in 11 than they have in 31.

Holy cow, what a move. And what a price. Wow.

Did they give up a lot - yes. Did this put them in a better position to win the Super Bowl this year? Yes. To me they have to approach this trade deadline sort of like the Cubs did in 2016. They gave up a lot to get Aroldis Chapman. But I can unequivocally say they would not have won the World Series without him. The Bear offense is enough to get to that level this year. But there was no way they could stand pat on D and think they were a serious player this year. This elevates their chances. Doesn't guarantee anything but elevates the chance.

When you are in the mix you HAVE to make the move when the opportunity presents itself. Let's hope it plays out the same way it did for the Cubs 10 years ago.

Well and critically, this is no rental, this is a cornerstone, long term piece of the puzzle.

Obviously success depends on being right about that, but that justifies the high price.

According to Overthecap.com, the Bears won this trade.

I just put this trade through the trade analyzer (you have to reverse it because they already have the trade completed in their system) and it says that the Titans win the trade. Since I had to reverse this trade to find out, it means that the Bears would have won this trade.
