My first job out of UIUC was working in northern New Jersey, adjacent to Morristown. Blessedly spent only a handful of months there before being transferred to the UK. The NY Jets' practice facility now sits on the site of my former offices.

Directly across the street is Fairleigh Dickinson "University", which occupies a former Vanderbilt estate (The Florham estate if you're interested.) It was at the time, and I assume still is, a finishing school for the not-so-bright offspring of the wealthy. (NJ is oddly peppered with such places located on former estates of 19th century industrialists; my daughter interned on the Jersey shore a couple summers ago and lived in student housing at Monmouth "College.")

My colleagues (and many in the area) referred to it at the time as "Fairly Ridiculous University."

That's all I can contribute to the pregame thread for this one.

The lack of East Coast snobbery was a bit disappointing in the post. :)

I'm Midwestern through and through, despite having a mother and large extended family originating in a Connecticut mill town.

You can take the boy out of God's country but you can't take God's country out of the boy. ;)

[EDIT: wait... did you mean Midwestern snobbery about the east coast? I inferred vice versa. I live to throw buckets of cold water on anyone in this region who refers to "flyover country.']

Excited to watch the guys play. The results the last several seasons are obvious, but they are also really fun to watch. A faster pace and all the weapons they have will make for some really fun, entertaining games.
