I have a bad feeling that Monangai is going to be out for a while.
Those are extremely painful. It's a sprain when the toe gets bent upwards. The term "turf toe" makes it sound like it's a whatever injury. It's not different than what Caleb went through, it's just with the toe.
Grade 1 (Mild Sprains): Typically requires 1 to 2 weeks of modified activity or rest. You can usually return to normal activities once pain and swelling subside.
Grade 2 (Moderate Sprains): Generally keeps you out for several weeks (around 4 to 8 weeks). These cases often require taping, a rigid shoe insert or stiff-soled boot, and a gradual return to impact activities.
Grade 3 (Severe Sprains / Tears): Can sideline you for 3 to 6 months (or longer if surgical intervention and extensive rehabilitation are necessary).
My guess is that it's probably a grade 2 just because a 3 and he would have been placed on the IR. With the bye week coming up, that fits the grade 2 recovery time.
The Bears notoriously misdirect everything as day to day or a game time decision. He was ruled out pretty far in advance.
Very worrisome. Seattle is a whole different animal defensively. That offensive line is going to have to play their best game of the season. 3rd and short or Johnson's propensity to go for it on 4th down is probably not a great idea this week.
