Agree could be a big part of it. He can't play the game with a budget ranking last in Big Ten. Like it's not even competitive. For reference , the Illini budget is THREE times of Purdue basketball. Unless they upgrade that NIL budget substantially.....he's gotta get out. I think he's got another 10+ good years left in coaching. Serious reservations that's at Purdue w/o a huge increase in NIL budget

He's getting a DePaul budget. And being expected to competitive in Big Ten. ....

Crazy that *Purdue Basketball!* is the same as friggin' *Arizona State Basketball!* at least by this measurement.

I think the issue is Paint doesn’t want to play that game. It’s adapt or die in modern college sports, and he’s had the luxury of not having to adapt last 6 years.

Agree he’s a great coach but he’s not going to sustain his level of success if he’s unwilling to play the game at least a little bit.
Painter's been in this league for too long and had too much success for me to doubt him. I'll just be happy to get the wins we do get for now.

TNT game halftime

They have Chris Webber, paid cheater for Michigan, Jamal Mashburn, ( paid cheater for Kentucky?), Jalen Rose caught in crack house and Bruce Pearl ( need I say more). What kind of panel is this for TNT for the Michigan-UCONN game.
That was a heavy UM studio, lord. I wonder how they scout - Jamaal Mashburn has some of the worst takes I've ever heard. Most recent was that Cooper Flagg would go 6th in last years draft.

Purdue plays Illinois St next.

Not a particularly bad opponent (#110 on Kenpom).
Personally see Painter's deep tourney runs coming to a dramatic pause, at least for awhile. Him digging out 3* in the cornfields and developing them won't work in today's landscape. They're just not throwing enough $$ at good players.

Really think the Najai Hines love affair, including on this board, needs to calm down until he can remotely show hes capable of avoiding foul trouble.
Hines was incredibly ineffective. Even when not fouling, he looked half a coma out there and couldn't even rebound.

Hard to tell in a game the refs wanted to be center stage, but UConn looked very beatable. The only two players that stood out were Demary and the freshman, who is a load. The defense wasn't great and the offense wasn't what we've seen.

The Mullins hype is a bit much. He's a nice college player, can hit a three. I'm yet to understand what he does well otherwise. His profile is a dime a dozen.
