I do as well. There was a discussion on here a while back about previous Illini football coaches. The consensus was that Blackman was not that bad, which I agree with. Our non-Big 10 opponents in those days were usually pretty good teams - not a "directional" school.
I remember that as well. Memorial Stadium has come a long way since those days. Fix the horseshoe, lower the field and we'll be very close to what we need to be.
Looking back at it, it was incredible that he was fired. But we expected him to occasionally beat Woody and Bo. We'd hold our own for 3 quarters but always come up short. At least there were no 63-0 blow-outs.
