I agree go after a good 5th year center like Thorne and go from there. I think this kid looks like a good player but might be overrated a little bit he wasnt' even top 3 in Mr. Illinois basketball and he is a 5 star? I'd say he is more of a 4 star player.

How good can this team be next year with the players already there and the 3-4 freshman? Can they be a top 4 team in the B1G is that asking too much? I see a record of about 9-9 or 10-8 in B1G and making the tourney at 21-10 overall.

Great news now secure Tilmon and hopefully Smith will commit in the next few weeks and we are a top 10-15 team in 2018-19.

Why would Smith go to SLU when he has a chance to play right at home or another B1G school that makes no sense. If Walker stays then Tilmon will be at U of I next year and Smith could be here as well.

I'd say the hire is a solid B+. Miller or Marshall would have been an A.

I agree it might be best to get some answers about Walker and Tilmon in the next few days then waiting until April. These issues need to be resolved in the short term so we know if Walker and Tilmon are both leaving then Underwood can work to replace them both.

I agree we don't know what will happen but we should get some clarity in the next few days especially if we lose on Wednesday night. I'm sure Walker will have a decision shortly after but if he can get a sizeable raise and be BU's main recruiter why not stay since he already has his family set...

I'd take it but at 4.5 million is he worth that? That would put him in the top 8 coaches in the country is he at that level? You can't pay him more then Lovie can you? How about 6 years at 3.5 per year maybe to 4 million tops.

No way Tilmon leaves Illinois until after he finds out who the new coach is and if Walker is staying or not. Those answers will come in the next few weeks and I believe Illinois can block schools that he can go to like Missouri or other Big Ten schools. He should just stay at Illinois he has...

So let's say UVA loses on Saturday does JW hold off until Sunday or Monday to offer Bennett the job? If he turns it down does he then offer big $$ to Marshall? How does this all play out?

He is on the radar for JW but after Bennett or Marshall. If he is our safe fall back I'd be happy with that for sure.

Does this diminish Keatts or improve the chances that we hire Bennett. I like Keatts a lot but not over Bennett, Marshall or Miller.

So if Illinois hires Keatts do we make the tourney next season? Assuming all the recruits stay. I would say yes but barely and he goes 10-8 in B1G in first season.

I don't like Hoiberg if you really break him down he was just above average at Iowa State and he has been a disaster with the Bulls. He likely stays one more year with Chicago before he gets shown the door after next season. Too much $$ on his contract to fire him now.
