Quentin Coleman on the USA U18 National Team

It’s crazy he’s getting these rebounding stats when he’s built more like a Christie than, say a Jordan Goodwin or RaVonte Rice. Huge difference maker even when the ball isn’t going in. Can’t wait to see what he looks like after Fletch puts 15-20 pounds of good weight on him.

I’m still surprised there wasn’t enough draft interest in Momcovic to keep him in. Shooting feels like the most coveted trait NBA teams are looking for these days, and he was the best shooter last year and also has good size at 6’8.

Agree. Much easier to tell a kid “whoa” than to tell a kid “go!” And who knows, defensively Brad and Cam may live with a little more gambling on defense next year if it leads to more turnovers/runouts. One way we can counteract our likely dropoff in half court offensive efficiency. And...

Right. Who of their returning players look like they have all conference potential? Mayer maybe? But there’s going to be a lot of great guards in the BIG. Jacobson looks more Matt Harms than Zach Edey. I like Cox and Harris but they are role players. Maybe their incoming frosh Ertl is the...

Another thing about Duke, is when Scheyer hasn’t had a transcendent, NPOY type player on his roster he’s merely had okay seasons by Duke standards, finishing 2nd and 3rd in a very watered down ACC. And while this years roster does have a ton of talent, it doesn’t have anyone close to a Flagg or...

Listened to the Trotter pod and he made 2 very valid points as to why we might not be as good next year. First is that it’s unreasonable to expect us to have a historically good offense so offense will likely drop at least a little, and then we likely won’t be as good defensively either with...

    NBA Draft

Really interesting how landscape is evolving and how the incentives right now favor returning to school for any player projected to be outside the top 20 or so, which is making the second round pretty weak. Does the NBA attempt to sweeten the pot and start to offer more guaranteed money to...

This probably isn’t the hottest of takes these days, and I’m not saying Coleman is going to be a consensus AA/Lottery pick, but we’ve found the next one. Skilled, shooter, processor, maybe not quite as big as Keaton but clearly better athlete, and most important/intriguing to me, clearly a...

This is 100% just a gut feeling on my part, but I wonder if the player we add later winds up being Ty Rogers? I can’t imagine there is another P5 willing to offer him a bigger role and more pay than we would be. And while I don’t know for certain my impression is that we could probably offer...

The beauty with Coleman is we won’t ask/don’t need him to do too much. Spot up shoot, secondary playmake, stick is nose in on rebounds. He should excel in that role. If he’s Keaton 2.0, fantastic. But we don’t need that to be really stinking good.

This year will be a good litmus test for Scheyer’s coaching chops. If he hasn’t had a transcendent level prospect like Flagg/Knueppel or Boozer, he’s merely been okay, finishing top 3-4 in a really watered down ACC. I haven’t followed high school recruiting too closely but my understanding is...

Congrats to JC. I know there have been conversations about a mismatch between personnel and scheme the last few years, but we have to get to the point where we are regularly putting O Lineman in the league. We’ve underachieved both on the field and in the draft room by Bielema’s standards. If...

I’m thinking there’s a good chance he comes back. I just don’t know what the market is going to be. I get the impression that Brad loves him and while he may not give Ty the starter on E8 team type money he’s gotten before, my guess is Brad would still take care of him. I can’t imagine...
