The expectations of ranking probably have something to do with being ranked at #11 to start the year. In the absence of that history, the current ranking makes sense with the schedule results.

Why did we play so well last year ranked inside the top 10 the entire year?
Something we don’t touch on enough here is how it takes the non-conference portion of the season to coach and develop the team dynamic. We obviously recruit guys that fit the BU style of play; not five * talent, but good character, athletic, coachable players that need time to learn and accept their new roles. These rolls sometimes adjust from season to season, hence the setback in the first few games each season.

Give our coaching staff credit for the continuous improvement we had as each of the last three seasons went on. Sloppy November and Decembers become better in January and are humming come February and now March.

Illinois should get more recognition for the development of their players. We don’t throw out four or five 5*’s and count of their amazing talent to coast into the tournament.

But they still have MSU being the AQ which LUNARDI is not a fan of ours.
As Icy said, Lunardi just makes the AQ the team leading in the standings. He's not predicting who will win and his brackets aren't a reflection of what he thinks will happen. They are just a snapshot of where things stand if the season ended today. While I don't think Lunardi is a particularly great bracketologist, he is the most visible. He tends to be slow on trends, but here he's out in front of a lot of others when it comes to us. Having us at a 4 seed means we are between the 13th to 16th best team right now, which I think is a fair assessment of our resume.

To add on, AQ really doesn't matter at all for predicting seeding of a P5 team. You don't get extra points for it. It's entirely possible an at-large team from the same conference could have a higher seed than the AQ.

I agree with this. Not only were we missing Kofi the first three games, we struggled finding our identity (kind of) with him when AC went down. We've done nothing but get better since then, and that's a credit to the players taking coaching. Also, while I'll love being a top 20 team next week, I'm kind of sad that the voters will respect a win of UM so much that we'll vault five or six spots. (But again, I'll take it. And puke at the same time.)

I couldn't possibly care less about being "considered a blue blood". I want to win. And it's just easier to win when you're outside the top 25. This team performs better outside of the top 25. All I said was I wish we could keep on winning and stay off the list. Of course those things are almost certainly mutually exclusive.
