I'm watching MSU vs OSU. Ohio State is staying in this based on individual effort.

I know it's a cliche, but MSU is actually running an offense and getting shots for each other. OSU feels like isolation offense and it feels so sad and familiar.

Comparing a Tom Izzo coached team to a John Groce coached team is like comparing Bill Belichek to Marc Trestman.

I think I am just growing old of watching basketball that relies solely on the individual. Am I reminiscing for 5 fingers to make a fist? Oh lord.

OSU up 3 at half.

Tom Crean just gained respect in my eyes.

*takes shower for saying that*

With his team up by 20 the subs didn't pull the ball out at the end of the game, instead tried an alley-oop and Crean ran on the court and dressed his player down. Then went right over and apologized to Rutgers coach for what happened.

Handled it perfectly.

He didn't handle that perfectly. You want to do that do it in the locker room not out front an entire crowd. These are still kids and trying to embarrass that young man for a mistake was ridiculously over the top like most things Crean does. Crean should focus on doing a better job having his team prepared. That was extremely Bobby Knight like what he did.

I disagree. This wasn't a mistake. It wasn't "oops, I didn't know we were up by 20 with less than 20 seconds left in the game." It was a willing act to run up a score. Frankly, the young man (not a kid) should have been embarrassed. Doing it in front of everyone makes it far less likely for him to do it again. I know I'm in the minority, but I appreciated the way Knight did things most of the time (strangling his player excepted).

If we're just talking about a shot thrown up at the end of time then you're probably right.

However, since we're talking about an alley oop up 20 under 20 seconds, it's not just what they did, but how they tried to do. As a player and a coach, I literally can not think of anything MORE disrespectful to do in that situation. An immediate dress down of the player is NOT out of line here, no matter how much you hate crean.
