1/25 Games - Iowa State beats Kansas

#1
Tremendous comeback in the second half by Iowa State, beat Kansas 85-72, outscored Kansas by 20 in the 2nd half.

Monte Morris is an amazing PG. Impressed by Steve Prohm as well. Very calm, very classy move at the end with ISU having the ball with more than 30 secs left and Kansas falling apart, did not let his team shoot (had to shoot an air ball on purpose).

Man, they are looking sharp! The talent on that team plays so well together. It's really fun to watch!

Iowa State now has three RPI top-10 wins (Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa). No one else has more than one.

Little bit pissed at myself, had a ticket to this game and opted to avoid the drive in the snow we got yesterday.

On the flip side of this, Maryland has yet to beat a top 50 RPI team, 0-3. They have another chance to get one as they host Iowa Thursday.

What's going on with them? Stud PG, stud C, 2 good veteran guards, and a couple more above average big men. Maybe the chemistry isn't quite there yet, but thus far they seem to be underperforming.

Well, it's not like they have any bad losses, either. All 3 are road games vs good teams - UNC, MSU and scUM. They played a pretty soft non-con schedule and got a weak conference draw, too.

True. Didn't realize they were all on the road. Beating Iowa will be a big step for them trying to get a 1 seed. Of course, if Iowa wins do we start talking about Iowa getting a 1 seed? That sounds crazy.

Barring meltdowns, both could be in position for a #1 seed regardless of who wins head to head between them. Iowa looks really, really good.

This could be scary, as a #1 seed, would they keep Iowa in state? Iowa State is a host school and Des Moines will be hosting opening round games. The games have been announced and the site will have a 1/16 game.

"Teams will remain in or as close to their areas of natural interest as possible. A team moved out of its natural area will be placed in the next closest region to the extent possible. If two teams from the same natural region are in contention for the same bracket position, the team ranked higher in the seed list remains in its natural region.

A team will not be permitted to play in any facility in which it has played more than three games during its season, not including exhibitions and conference postseason tournaments.

A host institution’s team is not permitted to play at the site where the institution is hosting. However, teams may play at a site where the conference of which it is a member is serving as the host."

Makes me absolutely sick that this is an actual possibility. I dont mind ISU, but Iowa fans could not deserve success less. Sickening. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they came back down to earth soon though. They're hot as can be right now. Will be interesting to see if they can keep it up. I hope not :D:D
