1/5 Games

Castleton looking good with Florida leading Bama at the half, 39-36...Michigan may have made a mistake letting him get away.

Watching NW and PSU…
Just stark contrast to Illinois, as far as offense and defense organization.

My takes from the B1G games tonight:
I'm not scared of Nebraska.
I'm not scared of Michigan St.
I'm not scared of Northwestern.
I'm not scared of Penn St.

Really enjoying Hummel calling games these days. He really improved over the last year.
I like Hummel too: pleasant voice and demeanor that I can relate to. But as a crowd, Illini fans are easy. Say nice things about the team, and we like you. Bardot tries to call the games objectively, and he's gotten catcalls that he hates us (though thankfully those have died down).
(And, fwiw. I like Dakich.)

Or Illinois. OK, we didn't let him get away but remember when he was being recruited it was down to Illinois or Michigan (if I remember correctly).

I don’t get where Illini fans think Bardo is anti Illinois basketball.
That take is ridiculous.
Bardo was a 4 year player and rock solid as a member of the Flying Illini.
Comes from a wonderful family. If memory serves correctly (perhaps not too well at my age) his parents are professors..??
If find him to be intelligent and articulate - while maintaining professional integrity regarding his perspectives and coverage of
ALL teams, independent of his alma mater.
Perhaps Illini fans prefer him to be a total “homer”, but he wouldn’t have much of a career or respect if that were the case.
I enjoy Bardo’s commentary.
As a side note, I also find R. Hummel to be quite good also - even as a Purdue grad.
Dan Dakich, on the other hand, is in my opinion a self deprecating blow hard who thinks he’s something he’s not.
Makes sense since he comes from the Bob Knight School of D-bags.

I don’t find Bardo as anti-Illini and think he does a good job overall. But I’m not sure what “comes from a wonderful family” as to do with him being pro or anti Illini.

Some, like I, believe he overcompensates to disguise his pro-Illininess making it unbearable to listen to as a pro-Illini fan. He goes out of his way to compliment the other team’s players while remaining guarded with ours.

He is the antithesis of Bill Walton covering Arizona games his son played in.

Brown and Christie look good for MSU but don’t believe they have an answer for Kofi. Ditto for the other three teams. Actually ditto for rest of BIG except PU. Dickinson has seemed to take a back step although he has the size.

I think Bardo was that way, but I don't think that's the case anymore. Plus, early on, I thought he wrote or said something very critical of the program.

I've just never found him to be particularly articulate, insightful or entertaining. It sounds forced when he tries to add excitement. I don't think that's his personality.
