Thought it was interesting that Michigan St. is playing Loyola Chicago in the battle 4 Atlantis right now. And so far they're getting rolled - Loyala's up 34-23 early in the 2nd half. For matchup context, Mich St. Is 21st in Kenpom while Loyola is 34th - two pretty strong teams so far

Watching Baylor versus ASU and they look really good. They lost 4 starters from last year's team with the only holdover starter being Flo Thamba who is not that big of an offensive threat. They do have at least 4 players from last year who played a lot of minutes.
My point is that they are undefeated and have only 5 TO's through 30 minutes and their offense looks great. Why have our seasoned players struggled and we commit so many TO's. Our offense isn't nearly as fluid.

I agree. My point is that our team seems to start so slow at the beginning of the year and you read a lot of excuses on here about it. However, the really good, elite teams/coaches don't seem to have that problem very often. How often do you see Kansas, Carolina, Zags, Baylor, and Dukies lose by 20? It did happen to Kentucky last year, but they had a big turnover in players.
Even Iowa, Buckeyes, MSU, and Wisky rarely lose by 20.

Just at a glance, in 2017-18, Scott Drew's 14th year at Baylor, they started the season ranked and ended up in the NIT, three years later they're national champions.
People are under-reacting in the context of this season and over-reacting about the staff in general, IMHO.
We've got great coaches and are recruiting like gangbusters, we'll be fine.

MSU lost by 20 or more points 4 times last season. Two of those games were by a 30 point margin.
And they weren't ranked in the top 25 and had a record of 15-13 and should not even made the tournament. The only reason they got into the tournament is that they played "thug - Ball" and Izzo's and their past reputation. Not one of the better teams last year. You can't think we would ever get in with a 15-13 record!
Flagler-Mayer-Thamba-Cryer are all big time college players.

No one likes how it's started. But, I also remember feeling gloomy early in the season in each of the past two years and feeling excited in February. So, yes, we need to see how it plays out.

I didn't like the opening to Ohio, Missouri, and Rutgers to start last season. Or Arizona, Miami and Maryland 2 years ago. Losses happen. We look sloppy, but it's only 5 games. Let's get to January before we talk about deep runs in tournaments. Something Oregon State certainly didn't think about in November 2020.

(Kidding aside though…I certainly take your meaning…we more than have our share of scoring droughts)
Ridiculous. Carolina, Duke, and Kentucky didn't even make the tournament last year despite being chock full of five star recruits. Meanwhile our team with three (barely) top 50 players struggles early in the season and we have people down on the coaches.
As if that wasn't enough, both our starting guards have been banged up so far. Hard to look good when that is the case.
